I know there was a thread about this vaccine being required for school entrance but here some more info on the vaccine. They are seeing some serious side effects from the vaccine although the CDC doesn't consider them serious. I personally think that loss of vision and consiousness after receiving the vaccine is serious.

For those of you who said that you would have gotten the shotbut already have HPV, my midwife told me at my first visit that they are learning that people are "outgrowing HPV". Where it was once thought that if you had it, you always had it. They now are discovering that this is not true. I guess it would depend on the strain of HPV. Some of what I've read says that the vaccine only protects against 2 strains of the virus.

even after reading that article, I still plan on getting Savannah the vax. I have one of the strains of HPV that can cause cervical cancer. If I can help prevent Savannah having to deal with this, I will.

I'm glad to know about these side effects to help in deciding, but I'm still going to see if they have it available to give to me at my pap next week. I don't have HPV and am at the end of the recommended age to get it. It does bother me it's only good for 5 years though-that's the only thing that gave me pause...I don't know if those side effects r worth only 5 years of protection when I'm in a committed relationship and have been for the past 11 years.

Where you see "Savannah", change it to "Paige".
