My dh and I are in Germany..I have the passport given by the army..are we allowed to travel with those passports? Someone posted on another board I frequent that we are not suppose to be traveling with those. I have been to Turkey and to the United States using this passport haven't had a problem. I'm just wondering if its allowed.

Next, does my dh need a passport to travel to US or does he just use his ID card and orders/leave form.

TIA

He should need his Id and orders/leave form. I'm not sure, but I think you can travel back to the states on leave on your no-fee passport.

When we moved here we were told we could travel to the states on our no-fee, but they want us to travel to other countries with our regular passport.

From what people have told me, Dh and I can go to/from the states with his military ID and my No-Fee, but for going to other countries we're supposed to have tourist passports.

We were told we could go to other countries that have a SOFA status, but nowhere else on our military passport. Like I can go to Guam and Korea because they have a SOFA status, but I couldn't go to Australia or China.

I also lived in Germany! Schweinfurt for 4 years. I used my military passport everytime I traveled. I went to France, Bulgaria, back to the U.S., and Chech. I never had a problem. All that matters is that its a passport and you have your visa stamped in it :)

I live in Germany right now and use my military issued passport to go anywhere. If your DH doesn't have a passport I know he can use military orders and his ID but spouses and dependants needs passports.

Im in Germany, unless you are travelling around EU zones, you will need a passport. And possibly a visa.
