Well, I have been scheduled to be induced on FEB 14 of all days :rolleyes , which is fine, I am beginning to show signs of preeclampsia (swollen feet and high blood pressure among other things). I am so ready to get this pregnancy over with, however Dr scared the crap outta me saying labor could last up to 2 days :shock

Any of you have had an induced labor??? If so, how did it all go??? :sick

I was induced with both of mine.My first took almost 24 hours.and it was hard labor for about 18 of those.and abou 2 hours of pushing. My second one was about 6 hours and like 3 pushes. So I think it varys. But both of my Drs.said that anything over 24 hours they would start discussing c-section.We were at that point with my first when they checked me one last time and I was finally ready.Hope that helps.

It went well for me. Pain wise though....ewww not comfortable at all. The contractions that were induced were one right on top of the next. I highly recommend an epidural.

Both of mine were induced. My water broke both times with no labor. The first experience wasn't good, the second was wonderful! I didn't need the epi with my second, but I think I wouldn't have made it without it the first time!

I was induced at 37 weeks with both of my kids for pre-eclampsia. With my first I was in no way ready for labour and was completely closed and long and it took 46 hours. With my second I was already dialated to a 3 and 50% effaced so it only took 9 hours. Both of which were wickedly painful and I had an epi even though I wanted to go natural. With DS the epi wore off at 7 centimeters and I delivered naturally. Once the contractions get regular they aren't so bad and it is possible to do it naturally if you want it.

I was also induced due to pre-eclampsia. I went in on a Sunday night and my water broke early Monday morning. They started with the drugs probably around 8am and it's really a blur from there. Pitocin sucks. DD was born at 3:41pm. :)

I was also induced with both of my children. I had pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure. Labor was pretty intense, but only lasted 12 hrs. for my 1st, and 13hrs. for my 2nd. Not too bad at all.;)

I was induced for both of mine.
Aiden's was 10 hours and Gwen was 4!!! :shock
I had a ton of pain with Aiden and pretty much none with Gwen. I had the epidural with both, I don't think I really needed it with Gwen, but after the pain of my epidural line breaking at 9 cm when I was in labor with Aiden I got it just in case!!

I really don't think inductions are all that bad if your body is ready for it. I was at 3cm and 50% w/my 1st induction and 4cm and 75% with my 2nd (I was induced a week early too!)
Good Luck and I'm sorry you have to do it due to signs of pre-e. :hugs You'll be fine.

I was induced with Mara the night before my due date due to gestational diabetes and the fact that Joe was leaving. After about 25 hours I was only dialated to 6 so they finally decided that I needed to have a c-section.

I had my first naturally
2nd we were determined he would be there for the birth since he missed the 1st. So I was induced. I was only dialated 2 and 75% effaced when I went in. I did not want an Epi NOTHING lol. By the time it was over I wish I had taken some drugs.
My labor was only 3.5 hours but It was 10 times worse than the first which only took an hour and 58 minutes and contractions were barely registering on the monitor. The induction the contractions were off the monitor they were so strong.
Good luck I refused with my third to even have pitocen mentioned around me lol

don't worry about not asking...They will probably ask YOU. They came in and asked ME if I wanted it, when It was time, for both of my dd's.:D

Good luck! I figure I'll be asking often enough that I'll eventually get the right time. :P

I was induced with my second child but I was also semi contracting, plus I am lucky and have short labors, 4-6 hours. The key is to ask for the epidural at the right time. if you want it don't wait till the pain is unberable to ask. When it starts to get uncomfortable then ask. Because then you can run the risk of not being able to have it. I didn't really like being induced, for me it was really hard and fast contractions, but everyone is different.
