Has anyone else taken this test?? Test of Adult Basic Education.... It has 3 components. Reading, Math and Language. English and Reading are my strong points but I suck royally in math.... I have a study guide and the math is basically: fractions, decimals, percents (not good there) intergers and basic algebra (not good there either)
I have to score a 10 in each catergory. Im not worried at all with the other 2. This is a very basic test... given also to prep for GEDs. But, I had a terrible math teacher in highschool and almost everyone in my class all 3 years struggled unless they were just math smart... I wasn't. I have always over exceled almost maxing my ACTs in everything BUT MATH!!!!! :banghead This stuff has to be 8th or 9th grade level and I am terrified of failing it... :tears I have to pass math... or I can't do much with nursing.
Anyhoo... has anyone taken this test and if so how was it? Sorry for my nervous rambling. :oops

I took a similar test Cori, and it wasn't bad at all. It was just basic stuff like adding, subtracting, fractions, decimals, multiply, and division. Just a few of each. There was also some algebra. Not a lot though. The thing that got me was the word problems..I HATE those!!!:mad :banghead

I think if you do really good on most parts,(div, mult, add, subtractrion, etc.) it'll make up for the ones you missed.

You will probably do better than you think:thumbsup I did.

I'm sure you will do fine;) GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't pass you can take the remedial classes to get you prepared. I'm sure that you will do fine though. Good luck!!!

Thanks Girls. :hugs
I paid $24 and downloaded the TABE test study guide which has 4 different types of guides in it. I am still on the 1st one but Luke has helped me out tremendously when I got stuck and so far its going ok... I have my ups and downs with the math especially the word problmes with %s and fractions and any algebra... but Im trying. :)

Word problems are particularly hard for me, but be sure to read every single part and write out everything. That is how I have to do it.

I took a similar one in order to get into the College of Education. It was the CLAST exam though. They make study books for that one, and I'm sure there would be similar stuff on your test.

Good luck! I'm sure you will do fine!

Thanks Girls :)
I have been studying my butt off... the study guide I downloaded consisted of 4 different practice tests for math and english. It has been a life saver that and Luke sitting there coaching and walking me through and teaching me... I have completed 2 of the 4 math tests with his help. But, have to wait till tomorrow for him to help me with the geometry mess... I don't do geometry.
I am taking the test Monday at 8 am... Its given mon-thurs at 8 am at the college and it usually lasts 2-4 hrs they said. But, I want to take it Monday so after I get finished I can go to the nursing dept and fill out my application and then go talk financial aid at our one stop career center since they should pay for it for people like me. :) Busy Busy! :nutts
