Anyone at Ft Carson?? Just curious thats where DF next duty station?

thats where my DB will be stationed at I'm trying to visit him there this summer possibly

I'm in the process of moving by there right now..should be there by this weekend...my dh will be working on base there.

I'm moving to Colorado Springs this June to join my DB, but he's Navy Reserves out of Peterson AFB. Anybody else in the area??

I like it. We got snow right now.
They shut everything down for a little bit of snow. I love my house here. I dont have friends here because we do live off post & I work at home so I really dont get out much.

:P Oh I am so jealous JK...I want to be back at Carson. That is the area where I was raised. I lived there from 1991 to 2006...now my DH is stationed out of well Iraq right now but Ft. Hood :)

Db will be PCSing to Carson when he returns from deployment. We have been discussing me relocating with him. Does anyone have more info about the area? Thanks! :D

I was wondering how housing is around there. We will not be married, so we will have to live off base. I also have two very large dogs which will make it interesting. Are there several houses you can rent around the base?

Also, db and I like to hike, camp, and generally be outdoorsy. Is this a good area to do that in? How far away from skiing and snowboarding will we be?

How is the job market in that area? I am in medical sales and will need to find a new job! Are there major hospitals in the area?

And last, but not least. I picture Colorado being a beautiful area. Is it pretty and if so do you have pics you can share? Thanks!

There are alot of areas to live, we actually live in Pueblo which is about 30 minutes from gate 20 on base...in Springs you do have alot to choose fom since its a half way decent size city. Check out the Colorado Springs news paper to see prices and such on rentals.

Hiking and camping around here is wonderful..there is so much to do around the area and were not far from New Mexico either or Montana so you will get to see some of the most beautiful areas around. As for skiing and such we are about 2 hours from the resorts. My husband and I like to go up to Breckenridge its just breathtaking up there!

The job market is really decent in the area...since you are in the medical field you shouldn't have a problem finding a job...Medical is the biggest indusrty in the state. I look on careerbuilder for jobs..you should try there.

Colorado is very pretty...some areas I could do without but thats anywhere..lol I'll dig up some pictures for you. And I know alot of ladies on here ahev some wonderful pictues of CO so maybe ask anyone else on the board too to share pics with you. I think one of the best things is the Garden of the Gods...thats right there in Springs..to me you can't get any better than that.
