Can anyone give me some information on paternity leave...Do you know how much time DH can have and all that. Thanks!

He should get 2 wks baby leave.

it all depends on his command. i have seen some not be able to take leave at all to some that have taken a month off.

We were told that Dh got 10 days free, well he took them and they ended up NOT being free!! I would have your husband ask someone HIGH up in the command!!

the only free leave is convalesent leave. ie if he needs surgery or what not.

DH was told that he would be lucky to get a week at this command. and we know i am having a c-section. thank goodness we will have family out here.

yeah my dh's wasn't free he got charged for it. He got 2wks when he was on the enterprise. this command is much much smaller so we'll see how much he gets this time!!

We know that now, :teehee but then we didnt know to much about the military and all that cuz we were new to it all!

Kevin took 3 days. They weren't free. He has a bunch saved anyway.

When I was pg with Johnny the ship was due to be gone during my due date. John talked to his chief and she had set it up to leave him behind for that underway. However, there was a tropical storm/hurricane (can't remember now what it was classified as) that was supposedly coming to Jax. so they left early. His chief was on leave at the time and driving back from Va. when John was told he would have to go. He took it all the way up to the skipper but he finally got to stay home. His chief had him working on base so he wouldn't have to take leave but his skipper made him take 30 days of leave in order to stay behind.

With this one his senior chief has tried to set it up where John won't be on push when I deliver so he can take the 10 days and any extras if he wants without missing some of a push. I'm due May 9th and his division is due to graduate May 4th or 11th so we'll see how this one turns out.

With Breanna John was a civi. so her birth doesn't apply here.

With all 3 babies he was here for he got 2 weeks of leave and they where not free, he wasnt her when Emily was born.

oh okay thanks girls..Yeah DH heard about the 10 days free thing too..but someone in his DET got charged for it and he thought they messed up but I guess not. I will have to tell DH this thanks ladies!

Yep yep....it definitely is at the command's discretion.
