How old was your kid when they learned how to completely use the spoon by themself? How old were they when you started having them learn?

18 months I think...?? I really cant remember to be honest

Eian's gonna be 2 next month and still can't really handle a spoon, I mean he knows how to hold it and scoop but getting the food to his mouth never happens because he forgets to turn it as he goes up so it all falls off, now he's been using a fork though since he was about 15months.....

I started giving my kids spoons during meal times a soon as they could hold one. Especially if I served finger foods. honsetly its was such a slow process I can't remember exactly when they got the hang of it. I think they may have been around 2 1/2 -3.

ds is 2 and he only uses a spoon for apple sauce ...we are still working on it!

DD is 14 months and when we give her a spoon she just flicks the food somewhere!!

Chris is just now mastering a spoon. he is 2.5. he has had using a fork down for awhile now.

Sabreena is a year old and can manage to get most of the food in her mouth, but its still a messy event. We've been letting her try feeding herself since she was about.... 7 months.

We started giving Zach silverware about 11 months. He is now almost 18 months and though he can use a fork well he is still not too good with the spoon.

Svea is only about 10 months we haven't let her have silverware yet, but she is still really messy with her hands so far.

Val got silverware at about 9 months and is a pro with a fork, and only good with yogurt when using a spoon. Probably because its thick enough to stay on the spoon. :)

Ethan would make a painting out of food and a spoon. So far he's practically a pro with a fork. So I say start her out with a fork first. :)

Ella is 17 mos and just uses her fork a little bit. Spoons she knows what to do with it but she's still learning to do it right and without a mess.
