You can put frozen chicken in it :)

I like to put frozen chicken in, and cook it all day (on Low) with chicken broth - or you can do BBQ sauce :drool

You can put it in, it just takes forever to cook. I usually defrost mine partially before I put it in!

I put frozen in mine all the time. It usually has to cook for 3-4 hours that way. Gives you more time if you start it in the morning and you can set it on low and cook most of the day. It's really tender when it's done that way and FULL of juice and moisture!!

Okay. :whew I't only 1pm here. If I put it on, should I put it on low or high? :thinkin

I would say high so it'll be done between 4-5

I'd put it on low, then check on it about 1-2 hrs before you want to eat, and you can always turn it to high then! If you've got 4 hours you are set for low IF it is a small amount of chicken!

just be sure you add a little bit of water and heat the pot for about 10-15 minutes first. Then add your frozen stuff. I attended a class about crockpot cooking last week!

did you know you can make cakes in those things, complete with frosting?

So how do you make stuff so rice and noodles don't overcook? :( I haven't used my crockpot since THAT disaster. :ohno

you add the rice/noodles near the end, like 30 minutes or so before. I usually cook the rice separately then throw it in for a few

I have put frozen meat in before. I usually put it in at 11am with lipton onion soup & carrots, on low, then take it out at about 430pm. About 2 hours before done time, I put in the potatoes to cook with it.

Okay...so I put the chicken in frozen and it's still higher than my liquids...so should I just wait until it defrosts a bit and then separate it a little more- then get it under the liquids? WIll that be okay? :worried There's like 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts in each frozen lump. :lol

When I use my crockpot I always defrost the meat but I am sure you can do frozen. When I cook anything in the crockpot I always start it when I get the kids up at 6:30 and put it on low all day. If I start it later in the day I put it on high.

the liquid doesn't need to cover the meat. the heat from the crockpot will cook it all the way through. if you check it in about an hour or so and it still feels kind of cold than just flip it and it should be fine. :)

good luck! I (L) cooking with my crockpot!!

Jen, a crock pot acts as a steamer as long as the lid is left on. You don't need your meats covered with liquid. They will cook fine with out it.

HAHA Meghann we posted at the same time! great minds think alike!

It's the same italian chicken sammies I usually grill to make, but since I didn't have time to marinade them (cause I FORGOT again :rolleyes) I am cooking them in the marinade, with some added water so it's not too strong. :D

Yeah...I know about cleaning them after they cool... what a pain in the a$$ otherwise. :sigh

spray on some pam first it will help with the clean up. I forgot last time I used mine and I have roast beef gunk forever stuck on one part of it. I even tried the SOS scrubber.

Each time you open the lid to peek or give it a stir adds 15 minutes to the cook time. Thats why the lids are clear

Good to know! I guess I'll be adding another 1/2 an hour onto it. :blush I opened it 2 times. Once to see if it was defrosted enough to split apart and the 2nd time to split it apart (cause it was ready)
