Bex 03-16-2007, 11:36 PM depends on where they are an how often they do mail drops.... Heather 03-17-2007, 12:04 AM they are not to far just out for a workup. I wish I would have thought to send it sooner. MelissaMc424 03-17-2007, 01:22 AM DH's ship didn't ever recieve mail while out on workups.. it always sat and waited on them until they got back to homeport.. You may want to double check with your ombudsman and see if they're even allowing mail on workups. Heather 03-17-2007, 01:25 AM The ombudsmen for the ship don't do/know squat. I'll just hang on to them until he gets home. Kara 03-17-2007, 01:29 AM Hope it gets there Heather! MelissaMc424 03-17-2007, 01:31 AM The ombudsmen for the ship don't do/know squat. I know it's frustrating, but if it's a workup and they're not gone more than a few months, they most likely will not do mail drop. I've actually mailed my DH letters (way back during the 1st deployment we went through) and had them follow the ship from port to port about a week behind. He got the letter I sent in Oct. in December, the same day I got the birthday card he mailed me a the week before.. Mail sucks.. my suggestion is if it's just a personal note or something, just use email. He's more likely to get it that way (even if email's down for a bit now and then) then if you were to bother with mailing it. Just wanted to let you know, that if enough of the spouses feel that the current ombudsmen aren't doing their jobs the way they should, there are ways to address the matter... You guys have a deployment coming up if I'm not mistaken.. maybe something could be mentioned at your deployment briefings or at your FRG meeting. Never know, you might actually get somethings to change, or get the current ombudsmen to realize that they're slacking! |
