View Full Version : Speaking of cloth diapers...
For those of you who DO cloth diapering, what you would you suggest for starting out?
What brand or any useful books? I have gone to some websites, but do you have any firsthand suggestions that helped you out?
Thanks!!! :D

Yeah, I have gone to a some of the websites that DO offer a lot of tips, but I kind want to know what REALLY works, what has been tested and what tricks of the trade are there?:D
Debra 03-24-2007, 01:36 PM I don't know of any books but my favorite brands are Bumkins, FuzziBuns, etc. I would definately start out with AIO's (all-in-one's) or pocket dipes.
harrisonsdream 03-24-2007, 01:38 PM i searched online and www.diaperpin.com is one of the first sites that popped up. i search through google
Scarlett 03-24-2007, 01:57 PM I live on the pin! I would also say to try pockets at first, search for my cloth posts in this forum...they have a ton of info..Im on my way out the door for pics so I will check back later
IgglesmumX2 03-24-2007, 03:41 PM I would strongly suggest http://www.bumgenius.com/one-size.php. I love their one size dipes!! They are a pocket diaper (meaning you add the material to make them absorbant) and since they are a one size they last from 8 pounds to 30ish pounds. I agree though that starting out you should definetly stick to either pockets or all in ones.
piggypunkinetta 03-24-2007, 06:02 PM Fuzzibuns Pockets are easier IMO. You can stuff as much or little as you like and the dry a lot faster than AIOs.
*~*Terri*~* 06-20-2007, 10:49 PM I would TOTALLY reccomend checking out www.diaperswappers.com. They have a LOT of useful info and REALLY helped me get started!!
aubrey 06-20-2007, 11:01 PM I love both the Pin and DiaperSwappers. For newborns I prefer prefolds & covers, for older babies and toddlers I like pockets best. I also like fitteds & covers. I like a bit of everything.
Green~Mammy 06-20-2007, 11:15 PM Here is a very useful book The ‘Do it Yourself’ Cloth Diapering Handbook (http://www.diapersandwipers.com/handbook.htm)
Every CD mama has a favorite so I recommend getting a few of each kind of diaper and developing a diaper system that works for your family & budget.
The Diaper Pin, Diaper Traders, Diaper Swappers, are good places to go for ideas, help, Q&A's, FSOT items, and WAHM's.
These sites have a lot of info too:

Here is a WAHM mall:

I have bought from these shops great CS.

I have not bought from them myself BUT I have bought their AI2's from another Mama (FSOT) & they are my favorite diaper.

I myself can not afford to use only pocket diapers or all in ones/twos so I use a mix of everything. I use my prefolds at home, or when I go to my parents house, I use my AIO/2's when we are running errands or having an outing, I use those and the pocket diapers for night time diapering. When we are at home he is just in a prefold or fitted with out the cover on most of the time.
I don't like fuzzi bunz they don't leak but the snaps feel as if they will tear out of the PUL if I pull to hard. I know other people have had their snaps pulled out on accident. I am trying to buy from mostly WAHM now that I have a nice little start to my diaper stash.

You sound like me I think there is a use for every kind of diaper :D just depends on what you need the diaper to do.

*drooling all over the keyboard* THOSE ARE MY FAVORITE DIPES IN THE WORLD! I have one :tears and I love it!!
Casey 06-23-2007, 02:45 PM How much are the bumgenius one-size diapers??
Shep's Wife 06-23-2007, 03:02 PM I just started out with AIO diapers and they are the only ones I have tried. I really love them.
I got mine from here:http://stores.ebay.com/Lil-Whispers-Boutique
It was cheaper for me because I could bid on them and once the seller saw I was buying several I paid no shipping fees.
My suggestion for starting out is make sure you have a good supply, I have about 12 and it works great. While I built up the supply I supplemented with disposables.
