View Full Version : PT test?
inlovewithjon 03-29-2007, 02:06 PM I'm so confused right now. I got a letter from DB yesterday and he has all of these injuries...and he is supossed to graduate in 8 days. He still has to pass his PT test, but how do they expect him to pass it with half of his body messed up? He's on medication that makes him sleepy also, which doesn't help. Would they excuse him, and still let him graduate, or will he have to stay longer? I'm just so worried about him i can't think straight. Any words of advice or encouragement would be much appreciated. :sadeyes
Armylove 03-29-2007, 02:20 PM they will probably make him take it, or they would push back his graduation, and he will take it when the next class does it.
Im not really sure hunny! I hope he feels better! Try and not think about it to much
PatsGirl317 03-29-2007, 02:23 PM I'm not sure how Army basic training is... but when DB was on Parris Island for MC bootcamp they pulled him from his plt 3 days before the crucible (the final test before they come a Marine) because they claimed he had a stress fracture in his arm (which they later decided never existed after holding him in medical for a month!!!!:mad :mad :mad )
It is definitly possible they make make him wait until they're sure he's better. However, I ended up getting through the delay by looking at it this way: the longer he's stuck in the training phase, the longer until they can deploy him!!

I just asked my hubby and he told me that in the marine corps basic training if you fail PT you still graduate but those people have to go what to what they call "fat camp" They have 3 months to pass if not they have to stay there until they pass..but they wont excuse him for injury. hope that help!
harrisonsdream 03-29-2007, 02:31 PM one of two things will happen: 1. they'll make him do it or 2. they'll postpone grad.

They wont EXCUSE him for injury, but they will put them in the Male Rehabilitation Plt in MC boot if the injuries cause him to be unable to pass the PFT. There they get proper medical care and Physical therapy/training so that they heal & are able to pass. The "fat camp" plt (i cant remember the actual name of the plt either) is something completely different, it takes the recruits that cant pass the initial PFTs and trains them until they can... they wouldnt drop him into that plt 8 days before grad.
&& If i understood correctly, he's not in MC boot, but Army basic in Fort Jackson isnt he?

i was typing to fix what i said cus my hubby understood me wrong. lol he will put him in MRP(Marine Recovery Program)....he thought i was saying he couldnt pass at all...never disregard the "fat camp"
and i told her that i didnt know if it was the same as bootcamps in the marine corps. ;)
Armylove 03-29-2007, 02:44 PM I will ask my husband for you when he wakes up. BUt I am pretty sure they will make him take it, if they havent already put him in medical. And if he does not pass, he will most likely get a second try, and then if he dosent pass again, they will push him back to graduate with the next class that is closest to graduate where he is.

~*~Katie~*~ 03-29-2007, 04:54 PM good luck! that really blows :(
they won't let him leave without passing his PRT. They will make him take it either now or after he heals from his injuries. If they don't think he will heal then they could outprocess him and send him home.

Sorry..i'm new to this...what does outprocessing mean?
USNFFG52 03-29-2007, 05:57 PM I can tell you from the experience my wife had in Army basic. She dislocated her ankle and they gave her a option of staying for 6 months in Ft Leonard Wood, MO to recover or get an honorable discharge and go home. She took the discharge and 6 months later with me working her and getting her ankle and the rest of her in shape, she joined the Navy and said forget the Army. I pushed her like I was her RDC (drill sgt in the army) and she let me do it and she lost 35 pounds in 3 months because of it. I would say if he has an option of stay and heal or get discharged and come back when healed I would opt for the discharge as long as they do NOT try to screw him with a medical one. They tried that with my wife and she fought to get what she wanted and is in a better position for it now.
privatelaun 03-29-2007, 07:12 PM John just graduated Army Boot Camp 7 days ago and this is what went down for the guys in his plt. The guys that weren't able to pass the PT test for whatever reason may it be missing the run by 6 seconds or injuries they were allowed to have a family pass the two days of graduation but would go to camp where they would focus on PT for a couple of weeks and if that didnt work they would go back to week 2 or 3 of bootcamp. From what I saw the DS's at Ft Sill were really helpful and everyone wants to see these men succeed and will do what they can to help. I added your guy to my prayers this morning btw :) I know he is gonna do great
lindakaiser1 03-29-2007, 07:25 PM what ever happens i wish you luck
privatelaun 03-29-2007, 08:58 PM I just talked to John and he told me to ask you if he passed his first two PT tests? If he did they may waive the third. he saw that happen for a couple of guys that were injured.
I wish him the best of luck it sucks that he is having to deal with all of this right before graduation. I hope he gets better quickly

He's failed all of them :sadeyes
privatelaun 03-29-2007, 10:30 PM Ok well I still think everything is going to turn out just right. We will all keep praying for him. Just keep being his support and the brilliant light at the end of the tunnel and he will be able to accomplish anything:glomp
inlovewithjon 03-29-2007, 11:24 PM Thanks guys for your help. I guess i'll just have to be patient and wait for the results. I'll let you know when i find out!
