SIMMYBABEZ 03-29-2007, 02:41 PM Ok so dh has a choice to go to Korea. Anyways- there are a few bases that he can go to.. but im not sure.
Can spouses go?!
Is there housing?!
Dh is an e5- he told me that when he was there round 98 only e6's could drive and have family there.
Has it changed?!
Im trying to get on army one stop but the pages arn't working right now.
harrisonsdream 03-29-2007, 02:58 PM i dunno but hugs girl
missinghim 03-29-2007, 03:01 PM My boss's husband was in Korea with the air force and she couldn't go with him. I wish I knew more girlie...good luck! :goodvibes
Traci 03-29-2007, 03:21 PM I don't think so, but even if I could I would stay state side.
spikyfeline 03-29-2007, 03:23 PM From what I've heard....no, sorry :sadeyes
MelissaMc424 03-29-2007, 03:26 PM Good Luck Simone!! I've always heard that Korea's unaccompanied.. I hope it works out for you guys!
It is not command sponsored. I was friends with a girl from a different website who lived over there out in town so she could be with her hubby and it ended up being fairly pricey for them.
Good luck!
SIMMYBABEZ 03-29-2007, 05:07 PM Thanks girls.
I went onto the Osan AFB link- and it says that spouses can go- but there is a wait and some other bs. Im not too sure.
I am just trying to figure out ways to stay OCONUS so i can stay with him! Soon as he goes stateside- i can't be there until god knows when..
mrsfaller 03-29-2007, 05:17 PM i HEARD that they can do one year hardship or 2 years with family. i don't know if that is true or not. i would def check into it!!!
SIMMYBABEZ 03-29-2007, 05:19 PM Im trying but the websites aint working!
I like the idea of Korea for a few reasons.
1. It's not in the US (so i can stay with my SOFA or a visa)
2. It's not in the US (so i can stay with my SOFA or a visa)
3. It's not in the US (so i can stay with my SOFA or a visa)
Oh and 4. It's close to home!

that is what i was told. df left for camp casey this morning and we had talked about possibly getting married this summer so that i could go over there with him, but i was only allowed if he stayed two years. i decided against it.
abigal 04-02-2007, 11:36 PM my dh is there now at camp casey! we found out at the last minute we couldn't go. Yes e-6 and above can go! My husband is a e-5 too this is his 2nd tour over there. They said 1 year tour for them if family u are looking at 2years and some change. But they can come home midtour but u have to pay for ticket. Mines left in Jan, when they go like that maybe not for the whole year! you might get few weeks earlier. Time is flying and I am glad! I miss him so much! Trust me i know how you feel when he say Korea!!!!!!!!!!!! You automaically think the worst over there! But trust and believe and make this time special with your husband! Cherish it now! You be blessed if u need anyone i am here! They do have curfew though 1 am! They work hard over there too!:cloud9
MichelleE 04-03-2007, 07:40 PM The can make it an accompanied tour and it will extend them for 2 years. But it is up to the command. You could also go over without being approved but you pay out of pocket, and they can't drive, So it would alot be more expensive.
SIMMYBABEZ 04-03-2007, 07:46 PM We are trying for an FSTE to stay in Germany. Not sure it will go through though. We filed an FSTE to stay here for another 5 months but dh is now trying to get extended to 09'.
miss.p 04-03-2007, 07:48 PM You SHOULD be able to go. One year, no you can't. But the two year can be accompanied. There is a wait list and it isn't guaranteed. My husband will just be doing the one year so it'll be done with faster.
SIMMYBABEZ 04-03-2007, 07:50 PM We are only thinking of Korea so we could be together. Otherwise it's where the army sticks us, unless our FSTE is approved.
So there would be no way he would go over to Korea if i wasn't with him.
Thanks for the help ladies!
Future_Andrews 04-04-2007, 09:16 AM Mine was in Korea for a year. But that was right after Basic Tranning. And he was told that spouses werent allowed over in Korea. I constantly worried because they were testing those bombs while he was over there. They went into lockdown and he couldnt even get out of the room for food for days. No phone, no leaving the room, no nothing. He HATED Korea. But best of luck to you.
goldilockz 04-04-2007, 09:21 AM So there would be no way he would go over to Korea if i wasn't with him.
What? He would just say "no"? If they send him, he goes.
mrsjohnson1222 05-08-2007, 10:40 AM Yea while family is occasionally considered the army has the final say and if they say korea then you have to say see you in a year:unlove . My dh has been there since janurary as well, i went april 3 and visited for a week. He has been talking to the commander now about getting sponsrship and he is only an e-3 so it goes to show you it's possible but slim. We probably are just going to wait until he goes to his next station so we can go somewhere ne together as a family. But in august or september instead of him coming home for leave me and my daughter are gonna go there for a month so he can save up leave time.:cp The housing is nice i toured it a bit when i was there. The people are friendly and the koreans are very helpful. Night life is crazy and there are people who will try to get over for you being american especially streetvendors. Good luck
Shep's Wife 05-08-2007, 10:42 AM I dont know much about that place, but :goodluck Simone
