the def of it is .. family separation allowance is payable when a military member is forced to be away from his/her dependents for longer than 30 days, due to military orders.

I know we didn't get it while he was at mct... but for mos it should still qualify ??

I don't know what MOS is but I do know that you get sep. pay if for any reason the military sends your dh away for 30 days or longer

My DH was sent to Bahrain for a year so we got it. But we are Navy so I don't knowabout the other branches.

MOS is training right, and you can't live with him, then yes you get it. If I remember from the Air Force codes.

I know that you get separation pay if they go to AIT. Thats for the Army and the Whiskey MOS's anyways I dont know about shorter AIT's. Hope that helps

I got it when my wife was in boot camp and A school. Plus I rec'd housing as well and that was sweet too, we rec'd 1400 a month for housing because of the area of IL we lived in.

Yes, you should be getting seps pay during mct and mos, sometimes the paperwork gets screwed up/delayed so you should really have him check into that

we were looking into gettin married after basic, 3 diff high-up's told him that it didn't matter, the army doesn't give separation pay for ait. I think we got screwed over???? We didn't get it for ntc either, 2 days short of 30.

We got it when I was in VA finishing up High schol and he was in FL..so I am sure that you would get it while he was away too. You should ask all your question's to the people at the office where you fill out that paperwork (where you get your ID's at too) I dont know the name of it lol..but we talked to someone there and he looked threw a book and actually told us what extra money we qualified for becuase of our situation.

Hmmmm....this makes me wonder if we'll get it while Bryan's in school for 8 weeks since it's unaccompanied.

Andrea, you should get it while he is MOS. If it's not on his first check then they back pay I think.
