How hard is it to stain kitchen cabinets? The floors in the house we are buying are a cherry colored wood. The kitchen is tiled, but opens into the living room, and the cabinets are oak colored. I'm thinking they might look better if they match the color of the wood floors in the living room. What do ya'll think?

That would be quite an undertaking. You'd have to either strip or sand or both. And plan on having a big mess on your hands. We just sanded some wood floors and OMG, sawdust everywhere!!!!! Good luck :)

If they are stained and sealed then it would be a long process. You have to strip the sealer off of them, then sand them down to remove the oak stain, restain them and then reseal them. It would probably be easier to have them refaced if you wanted to change the color and then you would buy new doors for them. We stained part of our island to match the cabinets but it was new wood. It was still a long process.

It would be much easier to just reface them, but if you are in a financial crunch than refinish them- it'll be quite the experience. :giggle
