Does anyone have any idea how difficult it is to put in a new bathroom vanity with2 sinks and new kitchen cabinets? Does anyone have an idea what just the labor would cost for it?

Does anyone have an idea what just the labor would cost for it? mossey2000 04-01-2007, 12:07 PM It's gonna be hella expensive to do the cabinets. We got a quote of 5k when looking. Dh is going to custom build some cabinets for way less. amandalaine 04-01-2007, 01:22 PM The actual vanity unit doesn't cost a whole lot...it's just the labor I'm worried about! mossey2000 04-01-2007, 07:27 PM I was talking about the kitchen cabinets. You're looking at least 40/hr for labor. leftover 04-01-2007, 09:10 PM I did my basement bathroom myself.... It was easy to put in.. I just nailed a couple of sections of 2x4s to the wall, so I would have a surface to glue the vanity to. I used liquid nails.. If you can read a tape measure, you can put in a bathroom vanity.. I bet you could do it yourself... But I wouldn't dare attempt to put in kitchen cabinets myself... They are too heavy.. peatys girl 04-01-2007, 10:07 PM We remodeled both bathrooms. The vanities were very simple. Make sure you use a level. We used the top that is both counter and sink (one piece). Once everything was removed and prepped, it only took about an hour to do the vanity, counter/sink, and the faucet. We're attacking the kitchen this November. Good luck! amandalaine 04-02-2007, 06:00 PM It's not actually kitchen cabinets...It's just the countertops. Ste9 04-02-2007, 06:27 PM Countertops are easy if you know how to do them. You can get a book from Home Depot that walks you through it. PrincessBlue505 04-02-2007, 11:58 PM The rule of thumb to estimate the cost of a remodeling project, take the cost of the materials and double it-that's what it'll cost for the labor and material. So u save 1/2 the cost of the job if u do the work urself. I don't know how hard those things r to do, but I think it's also how handy and/or experienced u r with those things that determines a lot of how hard u think the job is. I know with hanging kitchen cabinets u have to have everything really level or they won't hang together right (and u can't forget about things like leaving a space for the range hood, dishwasher, fridge, etc. Good luck! O, I just saw ur post that it's just the countertops. Those look easy enough to put in. And it's the same for those-double the cost of the counter top to get the total cost of the job if u pay someone to do it. I learned this from all those DIY shows-they're always comparing how much the job cost doing themselves versus if they had paid someone to do it.
