WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- About 1,200 Foundation Coal miners are on strike at two mines in southwestern Pennsylvania and another in Illinois on Wednesday morning.
The strike includes nearly 1,000 workers at the Cumberland and Emerald mines near Waynesburg, Greene County, and about 250 more at the Wabash mine in Keensburg, Ill.
They went on strike just after midnight.
The workers at all three mines are not covered by a national contract signed by the United Mine Workers of America in December.
