Ok - my husband hurt his shoulder a while back and it only got worse instead of better over the past month ... and yesterday he went in to have it looked at and they said he might actually need surgery to repair it.
And it's possible that he'll be sent him (which would be great!! :yeehaw )

But - what happens -pay wise- if he's sent home because of this? Especially if it keeps him from working his type of job for awhile??

He's in the military, they still have to pay him, especially if they broke him!

Funny!

He's in Iraq....

So that means he'd get his same pay - for how long? (if there's a website or someplace I can read up on this that would be great) .. and it doesn't mater what caused the injury?

I just went through this so I may be able to help. About 10 months into his 12 month Middle East deployment he was in a mjor motorcycle accident. He was taken by ambulance to a town hospital in Bahrain(they don't have military ones) and had surgery right away. After he was stabilized the military had him medi-vaced to Germany for about a week. Once they found him to be more stable he was medi-vaced back to Portsmouth Naval. It really depends on the injury. They could just send him to a place where he can have surgery. Can you get in contact with the command, ombudsman or Red Cross? They were a big help to me when DH was hurt. Feel free to PM me if you need to. I know what a nightmare any kind of injury is when they are that far away. It can be pure hell! :hugs

DH says that if he gets hurt in Iraq he won't get sent home.. He'd have to finish out his orders in Germany... But maybe it's different for full time Army, we're NG....

I sure hope he is feeling better soon!!!!!!!!! :hugs

My husband was on deployment when he hurt his shoulder, he was flown off the ship and back to the states, he had surgery, was put on limited duty until he recovered and could go back to full duty. All of it was paid and taken care of by the military.
During a second deployment, he hurt his shoulder again (actually just re-injured the same shoulder, apparently the first time it was operated on they didn't fix it all the way - darn rookie doctors). He finished off the deployment, but when he got back home the Navy sent him back for surgery, physical therapy, etc, etc. He's been on limited duty for a few months now, and we're just now getting out of it so he can go back to full duty and pick new orders. Again, they paid and arranged everything, even the physical therapy wich was done in a civi therapy center.

I assume he would stop getting deployment pay...but they would pay him regular pay, BAH, etc. I guess they would put him with the rear-detachment to work.

Mine was paid the same even when he got back to the states. He was on convalescent leave for a few months and has now gone back to full duty. With a little limp.:lol
