View Full Version : Okay a few questions?
footstepswife 04-13-2007, 08:03 PM I can't remeber, but there are a few who live out in town on here (in the Gurnee or other areas)--
We are looking at houses and townhomes in the area. What is your monthly bills-i.e. water, gas, and such.
We are trying to stay within a nice budget but omg houses and townhomes are a lot here.
Long story short we thought we were moving into housing but now they have no four bedrooms open for us for a long time. UGH!!!!!!!:nutts
I was already to send the kids to St Joseph's in Libertyville and such, now we have to find a house. I am so tired of this run around,.
Thanks in advice
Just curious but did you just ask about Great Lakes housing or did you ask about Fort Sheridan as well? Fort Sheridan is 10 miles south of the base and we have good schools down here. We are located between Highwood and Highland Park with Lake Bluff and Lake Forest above us. We are right on the metra line too. We have 4 bedrooms down here (not alot but some but don't know if any are available right this second. Friends of ours have one child and live in a 4 bedroom with their next door neighbor about to move out any day now)
footstepswife 04-13-2007, 10:07 PM they are driving me crazy. I will ask tomorrow about Ft Sheridan. Thanks!!
No problem and good luck :)
Amber V 04-14-2007, 02:34 AM Good luck. 4bdrms for rent in a nice area are just not affordable out there. I hope housing has something for you. Good luck with everything.
Were you able to find anything out?
footstepswife 04-15-2007, 11:25 AM :mrgreen :D Thank you ladies, we think we found a place. Dh is going to look at it today. I hope it works for us.
Kym, no go on Ft. area, she said they have no four bedrooms. :rolleyes
Well thank you again.
OMG that is a freakin' lie!!! There is one that the people were moved into the end of January and moved out like 6 weeks later due to transfer.
We know of several that are available now but I have a feeling that FC isn't telling the residents something down here. Please God don't make us move AGAIN!!!!
I'm sorry, I know you guys need a place to live soon. Is there any way you can do a 3 bedroom???
footstepswife 04-15-2007, 11:36 AM I know I know, we were just there in March and everything was fine. I am so freakin pissed.
Well she can get us a small apartment 4 bedroom, I think she said it 1100 sq ft.
Yeah, the house we are looking at is a 3bedroom with two car garage and full basement. :dunno what to do!!!
Mmmm Forest City, my FAVORITE people, haha!:lmao
When we move I am soooo gonna miss them :teehee
footstepswife 04-15-2007, 12:20 PM Luck dog, hopefully this house is cool and the price is great for us. So I am hoping it will work out and I don't have to deal with them. LOL
Amber V 04-15-2007, 01:09 PM We miss Forest City so much I considered adding them to my Christmas card list:sarcasm
footstepswife 04-15-2007, 01:13 PM he he, I think they would love a card from you.!!!
Brandi 04-15-2007, 04:05 PM We live in the "small apartment style" that she's talking about (and it's actually a townhome, not an "apartment" like they say) and they really aren't that bad at all. We don't have a dining room (but our table fits in our kitchen and it's a large table for 6 people), which is the only downfall, and the livingroom isn't huge (it's medium sized) but the bedrooms are a very good size with TONS of closet space and the house is in good shape. Honestly, I wouldn't encourage you to rent out in town for several reasons- the main one being that your gas bill will KILL YOU up here. The IL gas prices just went up this year by over 30% and most of the people I know were paying AT LEAST $200 a month just in gas before the price hike kicked in. You're probably looking at around $300-$400 for utilities each month, possibly more during the winter and depending on the type of house you get.
Forest City is a HUGE pain to deal with. It took me months and months plus doctor's notes from Jaxon's ped just to get us into a 4 bedroom but I'm SOOOO thankful for housing b/c it is very hard to make it out in town up here. Some people get lucky and are able to but with a big family, I'd highly suggest you try for housing. I'm just being completely honest with you. Believe me, if we could live out in town and not have to deal with FC's crap, I TOTALLY would, but we'd die financially.
If there is any way possible you can get into housing, I'd really give it a try and keep pushing for that 4 bedroom. Just some honest advice from a friend :D
I was just talking to a neighbor a few minutes ago. He said that his wife had to drive around and get addresses to show housing that this place is empty and that place is empty so don't tell me you don't have units available. They were given one right away LOL
footstepswife 04-15-2007, 06:32 PM Well, thanks Brandi-you have a townhome type, she said those were taking, she told me, it is 6 aprtments in one. I think.
With our garage away from the home? I just can't remember now. UGH!!! I am going crazy. Maybe I will go up there, and talk to them in person. I am so tired of the run around. LOL
Well dh looked at the house today and he said it was very nice :dunno what to do? She said her utilities the last year where around 200 to 250 a month, think she is lying.
Thank you so much for letting me know, I really hope we get a house in housing
