I was totally prepared for this and it has been confirmed. DB will be spending an additional 3 months in the sandbox. :kickcan Some good news is they are allowed to have cell phones now which means we will be able to talk more since they have moved out into sector. Yesterday I got to talk to him for the first time in 3 weeks. Yesterday was also supposed to be the 6 month half way mark but like I said the orders changed......Has anyone else's SO been extended to Iraq or Afg. due to this?
Also question for you fellow army folks. What rank must you be at before you can move off base? Is it SPC? DB is a PFC and I am pretty sure he must still maintain a room at the barracks. (Which is fine because he can still maintain a room with me as long as he makes it to formation on time :teehee )
I was just wondering. I have a little bit more time to prepare if I do choose to make the move.

They must be at least a SPC before moving off base unless they are married.

Thanks thats what I thought but I wasn't 100%. I knew they could if they were married. We're not rushing to do that though. :) I wonder how come they have to be a SPC.

My DB was extended in Iraq too:( So now we're not even a 1/5 of the way through yet. He had mentally prepared me for it before he left but it still was not fun news to hear. I hadn't heard about the cellphone change, I wonder if that's for all?

The extension is going to apply to us too this next time around. Actually at the last FRG meeting they said "hope for 15 months, but expect 18". So that's what I'm gonna do.

Usually because privates don't usually make enough money to pay all their bills and then you have some who aren't responsible with their money.

It's a money issue usually....even though we could live off base(due to rank, etc), we choose to live on base, especially here where our allowances are not enough to cover the bills off base.

I'm really new to being a military SO, so I have a lot of questions lol...In all the news things I've read about the tour extensions they say something like "no longer than 15 months"...I was curious why your FRG said that it could be 18? Do you just need to always expect longer than what they say?? Again I just don't understand how a lot of things work yet so sorry if this is a "duh" question lol:)
