I have been looking at ads on craigslist and online at target, walmart, and babies r us and I can't find ONE high chair that I like for the price! Why are they soo freaking expensive?? I dont get it! I mean are they made out of gold or something???? The cheapest I could find at babies r us was $50!!! and at target $30!! I dont want to pay more than $20 for a freaking high chair!! That is just rediculous!!! GRRRR

Have you tried a yard sale?

Keep looking. Don't get your hopes up. I got Sylas's highchair for 5 bucks from a yard sale. Only thing that was wrong was it was missing it's cover. So I made it. Went to joanns and got some clearance fabric. So total not even 10 bucks. Good luck

Yeah I tried a yard sale but it was sold before we got there. grrrrr. Soooooo now I dont know where to go! I just dont want to spend a fortune on something that is only going to be used for a short time. But I am really picky, so I want something in decent condition. IDK. I'll find something I guess.

Ive been getting some great stuff on craigslist lately, but I have noticed people are a little pricey on the baby stuff. If I had time to go garage sailing I would ,you can find some of the best deals. Especially if you go to Navy housing, people are always having moving sales and lots of baby stuff.

Have you tried looking on Freecycle? I would see a lot of good condition baby stuff here & in VA when we were still there.

I doubt you are going to find a new high chair for $20 unless you hit a sale. I know our Target as well as the NEX just had their big baby sale. I know they had 'em on sale for about $25.

Yeah I have been looking on craigslist and have had no luck. All that I can find on there is name brand stuff for like $50 or stuff in crappy condition for almost the same price. I checked out freecycle too and they had NO listings for kids and toy stuff in san diego.

You can post a WANTED ad on freecycle. I did that for our garage fridge and got tons of responses. You will never know unless you try.

Thanks for the links. I dont know about the one from walmart....i would have to see it in person (told you i'm picky lol) and the other two...I cant use the ones that go on the dining room chairs cuz my grandma's chairs are custom made super duper expensive chairs with white fabric :scary she already said a big no no when i picked one like that out lol. and the clip on ones I dont trust, they just dont look sturdy. thanks though! I think we are gonna go look at some stuff later in the week. If nothing else, then I will jsut get a boppy and a high chair later. that way I will get some more use out of a boppy now.

a boppy? since you're not BF anymore, i'd say the high chair would be more useful perhaps

but anyway, i had one of those clip-on seats for zoe to use when she spent time at work with me... it was very sturdy and i loved it.

i guess the old saying "beggars can't be choosers" holds true in this situation -- if you're going to be super picky, you probably won't find something "nice" -- with the budget of $20

the first one i already emailed and am waiting on a reply, but DH doesnt want to drive that far for just a high chair. the second one i already emailed also and they wont budge on their price, she said she thinks $30 is reasonable enough (that is also farther than DH is willing to travel) and the third one is like an hour away lol.

Murphy Canyon is over an hour away? :thinking Where do you live?

And if someone won't budge on 10 bucks why is it that big of a deal to spend 30 instead of 20? :shrug

I would go for that $30 dollar one, it does look nice. Consignment stores only take 50% off the original price,so you might not find one for $20. There is a childrens resale shop here in santee that gives a 10% military dicount.

Yes, you are being to picky :yes
Sometimes you either have to bite the bullet or give up. ;)
There were many options given to you :) Hopefully you can find one that "fits" your taste.

Thanks everyone for your help!! Sorry I am too picky lol. We went to the consignment stores and all they had were the really nice expensive ones for the same price as buying a new one at target or something. But it looks like we wont be buying a high chair after all cuz DH thinks she is too small cuz she cant touch the tray :rolleyes He thinks I should just hold her when I feed her. He doesnt know what the hell he is talking about! I'll just buy the one I want next time i pop into target without him lol. He is being as ass about it cuz he wants to get all this shit for the truck so god forbid i get something I NEED for the baby :rolleyes Well, thanks again!

I was just at Target and am looking for the same thing and they have a stand up one that was under 30 bucks at the Poway one here....also there was a really decent one for 70. I also know Ikea sales a very basic one.

:shame NO NO NO! I don't think so. He can wait till he's working again to put extra stuff on the truck. There's NO reason that Ellie shouldn't have a high chair to eat in so that she is 1) safe while she's eating 2) can begin to be more independent when she eats (good for development) 3) you don't have to sit down with her in your lap which leaves you with only 1 hand to feed her with and 4) he shouldn't be so selfish to deny his daughter something she needs!!!

I'm gonna kick his butt! He's been really selfish lately... tell him to get over it, you are buying her a high chair and he can go work somewhere to make the extra money for the truck... that isn't NECESSARY right now!

on that note...

I hope you find something that works for you for a good price. I can't imagine what a pain it is to have to hold her while trying to feed her. :hugs

Thank you!!! The only thing that involves the truck that I am agreeing to get is new tires cuz ours are really bald, so that is something we do need. But its going to cost $$$!!! that's the only problem. We will get them with the tax return AFTER we put money away in savings to cover our behinds for the next few months. I will get a high chair weather he likes it or not!!! until then, I guess he boucy works. Its just a pain cuz i have to wait until either before or after we eat cuz there isnt room to have her propped up on the table while we eat. That is the reason why I want a high chair, cuz she wants to eat when we eat and it makes it hard when I cant feed her then. oh well, he will get over it! he he he

Can babies even use a high chair if they aren't sitting up on their own?

the high chair supports their back if you get the right kind. and she can pretty much sit up on her own most of the time now, so she does good. we put her in one at the consignment store and she just sat there and smiled! it was a very large one (the cheapest one they had) and she looked soooo tiny!! it was very cute!

If you can spend $20 for a highchair why not $30? :dunno

I know I used a bouncer when my first 2 were younger to feed them and we now have this one and I LOVE it.

Yes, babies can use a high chair even if they can not sit on their own. Some of them (highchairs) even recline. I used the bouncy for Darian when he was really little (four months) to feed him. For Jacob I used the Bumbo but now he eats table food so he eats in the high chair.

I think he is very wrong to think you can hold her and feed her. Have him try and when he is covered with baby food ask him if he still thinks you do not need a highchair.
