Since we have decided to give base housing a try I am wondering what it is like to have pets in housing. Do they put you in a different housing area since you have pets?

some housing doesn't allow pets at all, some allow cats,s ome allow dogs. it all depends on the housing.

Ours allows 2 dogs and indoor cats, but no exotic animals at all. You just have to let them know what kind of animals you have so they can put you were they allow them. Like our 4 plex all allows dogs, but the one behind us only one of the 4 does. Here they fence in the yards with dogs and not with the others.

Here its seperated by areas. We live where we live because we have two 50 pound dogs. Also, some places have breed restrictions.

here they only allow two pets total and you can't have any exotic pets and there is no weight limit on your dog.

Your best bet may be to call where you are going to move (their housing office) and ask...

Depends on how their rules are. For instance here in San Diego there are only 4 areas that allow dogs. 1 allows small dogs under 20lbs. And the other 3 allow 2 dogs only. The wait list for the housing areas with dogs is usually longer then other housing areas.

Check with your local housing office.

We put that we have 1 dog on our housing application and just faxed that over. I hope it doesn't change our chances at getting a house! I'll take whatever we can get that is available but I'd really like to be able to take Wheezer with us, if he can survive the cross-country drive :goodvibes

Keep in mind that many base housing only allows a certain number of pets. When I lived in housing, we could only have 2 pets..but it may vary by housing area. Some housing areas do not even allow pets, so I would Definitely check on that. They can remove you from housing if you break that rule.

I know at Camp Lejeune, you can have a dog or cat. On the housing booklet online, it says you can. You can also call them :yes

Here we're allowed 2 fur pets. We have 3 and got a waiver for our 2nd kitty. Never had a problem.

We have an apartment style rather than a townhouse style because we have 2 pets.

At the bases we were at, Minot was three pets (didn't matter if they were dogs/cats/ect), F.E. Warren it was 2 pets total, and Montana it is 2 pets. They all had restrictions with No farm animals (duh). Go Figure.

the housing here allows both cats and dogs and yards for dogs. BUt I don't think it matters which you get. Either way you pay if the dog destroys anything and there is no carpet to hold the dander (for future tennants)
