Would it be ok to eat?

View Full Version : Tuna in a Can... Jennygirl 04-17-2007, 03:50 PM It says that its not something you should eat a lot of while pregnant, BUT what if you just want a tuna casserole or something? Would it be ok to eat? Bex 04-17-2007, 03:52 PM I've stayed away from tuna. No need to really risk it. We made tuna casserole with canned chicken. Hardly noticed. Becca 04-17-2007, 03:52 PM When I was preggo, my doc said no albacore, and only one can a week of the chunk light. Soooo...if you have tuna casserole one night a week and use a whole can of tuna for it, you could technically eat THE WHOLE THING and still be ok ;) Jill 04-17-2007, 03:54 PM Mercury is bad!!! Jennygirl 04-17-2007, 03:54 PM I think i just want it because my tapeworm is back!! LOL Bex(hehe) I LOVE it with the chicken better!! Maybe I will make a chicken pot pie for dinner! Yummy! DANG YOU TAPEWORM! Becca 04-17-2007, 03:55 PM Yep the chicken thing was a great idea, I'd never even thought of that :) Thanks for the idea!! Jennygirl 04-17-2007, 03:56 PM When we use the chicken I throw in peas and other veggies with it and bake it with bread crumbs on the top! Its yummy! Jennifer 04-17-2007, 03:56 PM I don't do canned tuna preggo or not. I eat chikin. :hungry Kat 04-17-2007, 04:08 PM Ive wanted tuna badly sometimes, but I get to paraniod and dont risk it at all. Its not worth it. I can eat tuna in a few months if I REALLY want it. LOL Jennygirl 04-17-2007, 04:13 PM Its funny because they say we have limited amounts of it, but I was just thinking about tuna casserole LOL If i made it I probably wouldnt eat it. I feel bad for people who love fish and cant have things like salmon(sp?) Lilithdrff 04-17-2007, 04:14 PM I love tuna, I try to keep it to only one can a week, or one every few weeks. Doc said it was ok as long as I wasn't binging on tuna everyday. Bex 04-17-2007, 04:14 PM I FEEL BAD FOR MYSELF --- SUSHI IS ANOTHER FOOD GROUP FOR ME NORMALLY THAT AND RARE, RARE MEAT Kat 04-17-2007, 05:02 PM I FEEL BAD FOR MYSELF --- SUSHI IS ANOTHER FOOD GROUP FOR ME NORMALLY THAT AND RARE, RARE MEAT :sadeyes I know... Soooo...if you have tuna casserole one night a week and use a whole can of tuna for it, you could technically eat THE WHOLE THING and still be ok ;) :yes Berkley 04-17-2007, 06:17 PM I ate tuna in limited quantities while pregnant. Brandi 04-17-2007, 06:46 PM I ate it while pregnant and was never told not to. ANYTHING in moderation is fine. I'm sure they'd find something wrong with massive amounts of anything during pregnancy. Tuna in moderation IS FINE. My docs told me not more than 1-2 cans per week and I didn't ever eat that much because I don't normally eat a lot of tuna to begin with, but I'm not going to sit and fret over a sandwich sized serving :nutts Bex 04-17-2007, 06:47 PM Ok I'd go to dinner with you any night. I love sushi and I love my meat mooing. :D too bad you don't live out here -- we could celebrate not being pregnant by a huge sushi feast :D Shep's Wife 04-17-2007, 06:47 PM I ate tuna, no dr ever told me not to. My kids seem to be fine :teehee *~*Cori*~* 04-17-2007, 08:55 PM When I was first pregnant with Jer I didn't have any idea about the "tuna" thing and that is what I craved so I ate tuna subs from subway like all through my 1st trimester. Then I found out it was a "no no" so I started eating Chinese and Hot Wings :lol I would use the chicken of the sea instead of the tuna and I would probably not tell much of a difference. Jennygirl 04-17-2007, 09:07 PM we had chinese...My husband is a rule follower! Frankie Lee 04-17-2007, 09:25 PM UH OH..I eat only albacore, but it hasn't been alot with this baby. EmeraldEyes 04-17-2007, 09:25 PM If I get a tuna jones, I use the packets, not the cans. I don't eat it that much, but sometimes you gotta have it. Brandi 04-17-2007, 10:51 PM we had chinese...My husband is a rule follower! You're in for it then. Between "research", "studies" and everyone's 2 cents, you're going to have a lot of rules to follow :hehe Legs 04-17-2007, 10:53 PM Haha I dare my husband to tell me what not to eat when I am pregnant and we'll see who sleeps on the couch, holding himself crying... :giggle Green~Mammy 04-17-2007, 11:16 PM You can have fish there are charts for how much women, pregnant women, and children can eat and be healthy.
