Ok ladies help me out here. I didn't have to have c-sections with Emily or Dylan so this is a whole new ballgame for me. Any advice, tips or anything? I'm kind of at a loss for what to expect so I'm hoping to get some stories from other c-section mom's.

The good news is that is scheduled which is a far better experience then Emergency. I have had an E-C/S and a scheduled C/S. Personally my c/s didn't bother me at all but I realize I have a much higher pain tollerance than most. You wont be able to eat the night before and will be given a liquid diet afterwards and if you hold that down you can eat solid food. If your going to BF bring a boppy, it will keep the weight of the baby off you stomach. If your going to laugh, cough or walk put counter pressure like a pillow or towel on the incision. Please do not laugh or cough without that counter pressure, it hurts like the dickens! :lol If you have an option ask for a spinal over an epidural. The spinals are more effective IMO and wear off faster then the epi post section. I have had both and much perfer the spinal. Thats all I have for now, I need to get off but PM me with any questions :)

I had two c-sections. My first was kinda emergency, they were rushed into it because my dd's heart rate was going down. My 2nd was scheduled. With both I bounced back pretty easily. I even got discharged out of the hospital early with my second. The only problem that I had was with the staples, I kept streching and I got them infected. Also I had a air bubble from hell! It hurt so freaking bad! Other then that it was a easy smooth transition for me. I went in, had a baby and I was fine. If ya got more questions just ask, i will try my best to answer!

dont wait to take your pain meds. take them when you are supposed. if you wait, it' too late and you will suffer till they kick in. dont just lay around. GET UP and move. you will heal much faster that way. ask how you will sewn back up..... i had staples with Gabe and that was a pain.... the other 2 i had the disolveable stiches, MUCH better.

Mine was 12 years ago and it wasn't that bad. I had an epi and that worked well for me...didn't get sick and recovered quickly. As the other ladies mentioned....walking around as soon as possible is very good (even though it can be quite painful) and taking your medication before the pain starts is EXCELLENT advice...lol. When choosing your going home outfit...keep those stiches in mind...lol. As far as when you get home....make sure everything is in one central (and close) location so you don't have to run a marathon to find everything. Preparing crockpot meals in advance is also very helpful. For example: I bought large freezer bags, threw a seasoned (raw) roast, potatoes & veges and tossed it in the freezer...when you are ready to cook just thaw and pop it in the crockpot. It is such a timesaver!
