What do you do with all your recipts form the stores? I have piles and I hate to toss them in case I need them but I am not sure. What do you do?

I keep ones that have big purchases on them in my wallet. I'd hate for something to go to the toilet a week after I bought it.

Every so often I'll toss old receipts.

for important reciepts, a box in the closest. Grocery reciepts...they get tossed right away. I don't like keeping that stuff.

I keep them Just in case and if i need to take anytthing back!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep them in my wallet and then each week, I throw out the ones that I don't need (grocery, gas, etc) and then they do into a bag in my closet. I keep three years worth because of working at home.

I file all of ours except for gas and groceries. We keep our receipts for 7 years. Don't ask why, my dh is anal like that. :teehee

I used to file it by month.

We try to keep them, in case they are needed, but they usually don't make it out of DH's pocket or the truck :mumble So we usually end up throwing away big piles or reciepts each time we clean. :dunno We try :lol

If is a big purchase like something that has a warranty (TV, lawnmore, grill, etc...) I keep those in file with warranty papers. Other misc stuffs I keep them in my check book and then after a while I shred them.

I only keep what I know will be useful for tax purposes, also the big purchases receipts, everything else goes to the trash or to the shredder.
