Is there car rental places in Waikiki or are they mostly by the airport?

My advice is to rent one online ahead of time. There is a car rental place that shuttles from the airport. If you are going to spend money on a taxi might as well put it towards a rental car.

Advantage Rental car formerly Tradewinds U Drive is the cheapest we ever found while living there. I would look into them, they pick you up from where ever.

My husband just rented a car there last week 4 days for 72.00 ;) not bad!

I would reserve it beforehand that way they can shuttle you there or pick you up and you can avoid the taxi.

I do want to reseve it ahead of time but I was wondering if reserving the car from the night we get in would be worth it or if it would be better just to rent it the whole time while we are there that way we wont be wasting time on that.
Thanks for the info Nikki, I'll look for more info on it :)

It'd be wise and convenient to rent from the airport already. Once you're in the baggage claim area, you'll also be in the area where you'll find the car rental places. They'll check you in and what not and have a shuttle pick you up to bring you to where all the cars are at. And when it's time to go home, you simply drop the car off from where you got it and they'll shuttle you straight to your respective airline check-in.

I just read in the book I got that you don't really need a car for every single day you are there but that it would be very not wise not to rent for at least part of your stay. I definitley will be renting but I know lots of the things we will be doing they will provide shuttles, so I was wondering :) that way we would save money on parking for some of the days plus some days of rent. I don't think I don't want to have a car though for somedays. You know how that always go, you wont have the car when you need it the most.

It is worth it to have a car and be able to go anywhere you want. What dates will you be there?

I am jealous. We loved vacationing in Hawaii.

I rented a car from there after I shipped mine off the Island and they were really nice to me.
