Is there a test the Dr's run to see if you are in fact ovualting or not?
If so, how is it preformed?
I am watching a Baby Story and the couple said that after a year trying they went to a fertlity dr to have tests ran. The tests revealed she wasnt ovualting and her husband had a low sperm count. So they put her on Clomid then after 3 months of that not working they put her on some type of injections and she got pregnant with quadruplets. :)
I just was wondering what steps they do if you are having trouble conceiving and then you don't think you are ovulating. That's whats going on with me right now... I just was wondering what they do to confirm the no ovualtion etc.
Thanks Girls
:)

Its a blood test.
My Dr did it a LONG time ago. But he is not the best infertility Dr and NEVER got back to me, and I never could get through to him.
But I guess I did ovulate :)

Oh its just a blood test??
I would have never guessed it would be that simple.
Does it matter what time of the month you get it done?
What exactly is it called?
Sorry so many questions Kit Kat :hugs

Im not sure if its suppose to be a certain time of the month or what. Dr Fowler from NAS JAX was my Dr and I swear he is the WORST at getting back to patients and explaining things.
It was when we went to him to see about getting on clomid and stuff. Before he was gonna put us on meds, he wanted to test and see if I was ovulating since clomid makes you ovulate. He ordered the lab that day, and said he would get back to me with the result. LOL He never did, and it was right before David and I spilt so we kinda just dropped it.
Not sure what it is called or anything.

Have you found out any info online?

I would've thought it would be at a certain time as it tests for either GnRH or LH, both of which are released/peak only during ovulation.

For me they gave me some pills to start my period..then i went in so many days afterward and had blood drawn. That will tell the doc where you are ovulation wise..you may have to go back a couple of times to see where you are progressing..if you are at all. Right now my body is stuck in pre-ovulation mode:lmao I had the blood work done right before i left florida. Any doc can do it...my pcm did mine. that is one of the things they will do to recommend you to a fertility expert. I was on clomid and metformin for 6 months before we quit out of frustration. The shots can be expenisve and may not work at all. Since you are already on the Metformin..that is a plus, you may just need the clomid to give you an extra boost:wink

when i was seeing my fert. doc he also did a procedure where he shot dye up into my fallopian tubes to see if they were blocked or disfigured. They say for up to 6months after that you can be highly fertile because it clears any obstructions that were causing the eggs not to fall. My problem is I have cysts on my ovaries and they are about 3 times bigger than they should be..hence my PCOS:banghead

They told me if i lost weight it should help..but it hasnt:rolleyes so when steve gets back off this deployment we will ONCE AGAIN go back on clomid..and HOPEFULLY eventually, before i am 100, have another kiddo.

Now, i have to say this. Although i Rarely have a period..I hadnt had one in 7 months when i found out i was preggo with gaven...so i guess bleeding doesnt really mean to much when it comes to ovulation.:dunno :teehee

Medical tests
Medical tests can check whether or not ovulation took place. These tests can include:
Blood test - to check for the presence of progesterone. A level greater than 20nmol/L indicates that ovulation took place. This test must be taken about three to 10 days before the first day of the next expected period.
Pregnancy ultrasound - the presence of a foetus is the only 100 per cent proof that ovulation took place. Medical tests such as ovulation predictor kits and blood tests can only ascertain that ovulation probably - not definitely - occurred.

Heres what I got from a site Chor.

Well, I guess since I haven't had a period since November I couldn't tell anyone when I should be starting :P
It is so damn frustrating not to have a period! I don't feel like Im going to start and I haven't started since November.
I somehow did ovulate in January because I got pregnant and misscarried... I did bleed after that but that was Feb 19th and nothing since then. And the month after I lost the baby I used the monitor and temped and I did not ovulate period and then I got frustrated and said screw it all. My dr told me not to do anything but live life... she didn't want to refer me out or do more tests or put me on clomid etc.... SHe was like your 24 don't worry about it. But I tried telling her isn't it a red flag when your patient isn't ovualting and is diagnosed with PCOS and the meds for that still aren't giving me cycles and I am still not ovualting?? But then I was like whatever... no one wants to help me so I guess God doesn't want me to have anymore kids now. DH and I have sex about every other day... no pressure on us and we figure if I can get preggo that doing it every other day we will hit the right days one year :P
Or not and then I guess we are screwed...

I know... I just wish I knew I guess if I was trying in vain or if I really am ovulating.... And what can a girl do to get a frigging period :lol
Not many people want those things but I do. That way we can kinda see where we are... I thought my dr would have been like wow almost 5 months and no period and a misscarriage and PCOS... Hmmm maybe we need to do something for you Hun. :mumble
But, the gave me the Metformin beginning of Feb and she said I may never have normal cycles taking it... and sent me home with a good luck

You are right Christy! And I am soo proud of how far I have come. It was so hard tossing the monitor down and the temping and charting. But I have been much sanier I tell you... its in the back of my mind of course about all the health issues I have and possibly no ovulation but Im trying to not focus on it and hope that we get a surprise miracle when we least expect it! :cloud9

Then when that test said +, girl... you would have thought I was gonna die :lol And on top of that blessing, we are blessed with our girl. :cloud9 I can tell you, when it comes out of no where and your NOT expecting it, its a miracle you can FEEL!

Im hoping that it will be the same for us soon!!
We may be getting a trailor and my parents are giving us land to put it on for free so we have a major blessing ahead of us right now. And we are hoping when all that falls into place that God will bless us with a little bundle of pink or blue to fill the extra bedroom! :cloud9

I can see that happening!!!!!!! Totally.
Things had to fall into place for David and I too, before we got blessed.
Not everyone has to go through trials but we did.... I take it as we were Gods choosen few who He tested before He blessed :cloud9

LOL, even if you cant. Cause if it takes a while like me, I lost faith in ever having another baby, I was pissed. Upset etc. I kept inside mostly. Then I gave it up. I dont even remember if I put faith in it when I did, but I gave it up. Just remember, faith or no faith, miracles do happen!
