What were the things about the Navy that you wish you knew before becoming a Navy wife? I'm so scared about screwing something up...especially with the health care system..Tricare I think...I know NOTHING about it! I am so civilian...ANY and ALL advice would be great!

You have to APPLY to be on prime when you get married. If not you will automatcially be put on standard then you will have copays at Drs visits!

Hours are long, pay is terrible & as a wife, you keep your mouth shut so you don't get your husband in trouble.

I wish I had known all of the above.
You have to be extremely flexible. The military is definately not a M-f, 9-5 job. Also, nothing in the military is set in stone, anything can change at a moment's notice.

Have patience. Everything is "Hurry up and wait".

Hurry up and wait is right. Also one thing to remember the only thing that is constant is that things change.

My husband was the one that told me the ''hurry up and wait'' phrase a year or so into our marriage I think. Also the whole "You're wife doesn't come with your seabag" phrase.
I've always tried to make the best of things no matter how bad they may have seemed at the time, and no matter how hard on me family was being about why I'm not in school yet or working, etc. It takes time to adjust. I guess what's always worked for me/us is trying to look at the bright side of things. :-)

Thanks for your responses, my husband told me the "hurry up and wait" thing after MEPS. I am ready to be completely flexible....like I said, I just don't want to make some huge faux pax.
