View Full Version : TTC: what method did you use?
Nicholyse 04-23-2007, 05:06 PM I've seen a lot of pregnant ladies lately, and some who get pregnant very soon after DH's return from deployment. What method did you use to track your ovulation, or did you do anything at all? It just happens so quickly for some, but my DH lived together without any form of BC for over a year and nothing happened for us. What worked for you? TIA!
Amber V 04-23-2007, 05:08 PM With all 3 of ours it just happened. The first two were planned and we were pregnant very quickly our last was a surprise and I would say hers was pretty quick too.
*Crystal* 04-23-2007, 05:09 PM We just decided to get pregnant and it happened the first try with both!!
Shep's Wife 04-23-2007, 05:19 PM With the first 3 we just had sex, and it happened within a month.
With #4, we timed it just right so I would get pregnant right before he deployed and be due when his shore duty rotation started. I went off the pill so I only had a month to figure out when I was going to ovulate before he left. I used those ovulation predictor tests.
Fortunately for us, it worked!! I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks after he left and she was born about 2 months into shore duty.
Jennie 04-23-2007, 05:21 PM Sex LOL
:yes
harrisonsdream 04-23-2007, 05:35 PM i just watched my CM and dh came home when the timing was right
Lilithdrff 04-23-2007, 05:42 PM I've never used or tracked anything to get pregnant...I've tried to *not* get knocked up and gotten pregnant anyway :teehee.
AshleyJ 04-23-2007, 05:56 PM Sex LOL
:agree
Nicholyse 04-23-2007, 06:28 PM Sex LOL
LMAO... maybe I should try that. :duh
Nicholyse 04-23-2007, 06:31 PM Thanks for the input, ladies. My cycle is always a bit off, this is why I asked. Glad you've all had success with your "methods"!
Caimbrie 04-23-2007, 06:50 PM For my first three we just had sex everyday. I never charted or anything at all and we got pregnant the first try all 3 times. This time I am charting because we are using the shettles method trying to have a girl since we have 3 boys.
Victoria 04-23-2007, 06:53 PM Sex LOL
Yep!!!!!!!!!
When we conceived our son, I NEVER knew about charting, temping, ovulation sticks, etc...
The only thing we used was Pre-Seed!!!!
Honestly, all those other methods seem to be unneeded stressors, unless you have a documented case of infertility...
navycorpsmanwife 04-23-2007, 07:29 PM I came off the pill during his six-month deployment and started taking prenatals, weaning off caffeine, etc..etc.... we had lots of sex when he came home and boom it happened the first try.

Yes, I believe I've looked at the Pre-Seed website before :) I think I need to get some of that. BTW, your son is so darn cute!
Sex LOL
lol i was just about to say that, just like that :D
aubrey 04-23-2007, 07:58 PM With #2 I did the temping every morning to track ovulation. #1 took us a year to get pg, so I didn't want it taking as long for #2 (and she only took us 3 months).
~Jess~ 04-23-2007, 08:38 PM It jsut happends for us. All my babies plus the ones I lost were deployment babies. with this one I got pregnant the day he got home. I guess we just have good timeing :lol
bunkie 04-23-2007, 08:52 PM gawd how freaking jealous I am of you fertile girls.
We were infertile. We charted to track ovulation. After 4 years we suddenly got pregnant with DD#1 on R&R, he came home the day I ovulated and we got lucky.
With DD#2 it was a rest cycle after a miscarriage. We were supposed to have some testing. We used NFP to avoid but I auctually ovulated 10 days earlier then my chart said when we dated the baby on u/s. It was a huge shocker, I have never ovulated on time in my life.
Kristin 04-24-2007, 01:07 AM I have 2 pill babies :teehee Elizabeth is the only one that was actually tried for, and my ex h and I used the Shettles Method and it worked!!
Traci 04-24-2007, 01:23 AM I got pregnant with my second the day he came home from a deployment. Alot of sex is the only answer I have for you.:lol
I have never used anything to track it and it actually work. We just had lots of fun ALL the time ;) Good luck to ya'll though!
Amanda 04-24-2007, 08:47 AM with us we didn't do anything more like tried to PREVENT getting pregnant yet and it still happened :lol lots of sex :lol
TrishaM 04-24-2007, 08:58 AM Just happened for us. I wanted to wait 6 more months and I was two weeks from getting on the pill and oops!!!
Ashnbri 04-24-2007, 10:31 AM I used FF and tracked AF and Basal body temp. I tried OPK"s but they didn't work for me I NEVER Got +'s. But We didn't conceive him until almost 2 years of trying.. (not counting deployments or when we were not living together) lol And when we did conceive him I wasn't really doing anything..I was still temping but I wasn't paying attention to it. So yeah just Sex pretty much worked for us as well.
Jennifer 04-24-2007, 10:33 AM We'll be sexing it up...that's about it.
Chevy_Gurl 04-24-2007, 10:37 AM No tracking with mine. Just stopped using BC and about a month afterwards we got preggo. Good luck!
Victoria 04-24-2007, 02:25 PM Yes, I believe I've looked at the Pre-Seed website before :) I think I need to get some of that. BTW, your son is so darn cute!
Thanks!!!! :lovestruck
*~*Cori*~* 04-24-2007, 07:29 PM If its been a year maybe go in and get checked if you are worried...
I have sporadic cycles and ovulation so its hit or miss with us and we don't know when the "hit" days are. We misscarried in Feb and we tried the fertlity monitor, which may be a great tool for you and your DH. So, we did the temping, charting and monitor and I didn't ovulate and I haven't had a cycle since November... As of right now we are just having sex about every other day and hoping for our miracle in God's time... and we will see a fertility dr when we feel the time is right. I know with my female issues that we probably need one but we are just trying not to concentrate on it right now...
Good Luck :hugs :pray

That's me... I don't ovulate on time. I don't have periods... like now its been 5 mths since I had one. I got preggo in Jan, m/c in Feb and haven't had a cycle since and didn't ovulate at all in March. So, I can't use to OPKs cause I just have to take them at random times to see if I may be fertile. I think I might have just ovualted last week so I am :pray but I don't know for sure since we didn't have any OPK comfirmation just the CM comfirm. But we had been :sex it up lately so I guess we will have to wait and see. I had a preggo test at the ER Sunday night and it was negative but of course if I had just ovulated a few days prior it wouldn't show up +
wolfspawprint 04-24-2007, 07:43 PM LOL, I was going to say sex too. I was watching my cervical fluids and paying attention to my body. (That and I was visiting hubby in Cuba at just the right time.)
SezzySue 04-25-2007, 10:48 AM we have been trying for almost 8 months now.
We have used BBT, OPK, Ovulation monitor, and CM checks.
Still trying... :sadeyes
BLBnJVB3 04-25-2007, 11:11 AM Breanna: We didn't use anything. We were using the pull and pray method, one day he didn't pull, and I got pg.
Johnny: We used the O prediction kits. They worked great for us since using them I found out I don't O til cycle day 17 instead of the 14 that the sites I looked at used. We got pg with him the 3rd month.
Zachary: Again we used nothing. We weren't trying but we weren't doing anything to prevent getting pg. Johnny was 8 weeks when I got my first period after having him and he was 10 months when I got pg.
