Hi there everyone! (Somehow I used the giggle smiley icon instead of just the smiley on the previous page. Oh well.) I thought I'd finally introduce myself. My name is Erin and I am married to my darling husband Joshua (who is in the Navy and is a submariner.)
We're both 26 and have been together almost 11 yrs!! He asked me out the last day of our freshman year of h.s. after talking to me in gym everyday and our geography class! (I didn't think he was all that great at the time, but boy did he!! :hehe ) I feel bad about feeling that way but at the time I was only 15 and he kept following me & talking to me! Who knew we'd be where we are today. So throughout h.s. we still dated and did our first year of community college in IL (we're both from the Chicago area,) and we broke up, I saw someone else for a while (it's a long story...I may share sometime but not yet) and while Joshua and I were broken up he decided to enlist in the Navy! He called me at my grandparent's house on his birthday (I was thinking of him that day too,) after we hadn't talked for a month or so. He told me he missed me and I said the same. He said everyone told him he shouldn't tell me this, but .......he said he joined the Navy!!! I was like :shock ! I started to get teary-eyed and asked him for how long and he said 5 years!!! (Again, :shock then :sadeyes then :tears ) Long story short, we agreed to see eachother the very next day (Dec. 30, 1999) and that day we both cried a lot and said I love you's, and it was at that moment we realized we were meant to be together as gf/bf then get married sometime in the near future. It was a very emotional time for both of us but I broke up w/ the other guy, we got back together, in that time was the New Year 2000, my 19th b.day, his 19th b.day was Dec. 29, and he left for bootcamp at Great Lakes Jan. 11, 2000. We had like 10 days to spend together and they were so happy and full of love. :cloud9 I'll never forget it! Neither will he! I'll write details maybe another time.

So, we are here in Groton, CT on our first shore duty. We got married Dec. 29, 2001 (it just worked out that it was his 21st b.day) and I moved to Kings Bay, GA. We did 5 patrols together married before we moved here. Next month we pick orders and are hoping for K.Bay again. It will be back to a boat for 4 yrs. He is an E-5 Machinist's Mate (non-nuke.) He took the 1st class exam recently for the 3rd time and we're keeping our fingers crossed!

We have 1 cat named Sadie who we love dearly and has such personality. She's never boring that's for sure and she cheers me up when he's gone. We don't have kids and are undecided on that topic. We are so happy just being us, we will most likely keep it that way. :) It's been a challenge talking about it and trying to meet people in the Navy who also don't have kids and just like to have fun together. We're totally not against anyone else having kids (that's their choice and we respect that)...we'd just love right now to try and find people who are in a similar situation we're in.

I'm currently a stay at home wife and am finally not ashamed of that! It took me a few yrs! (once you get to know me you'll see why. I didn't do what I wanted from the get go due mostly to family influences.) When we were first married I worked at the NEX, then I quit and went to school for a sememster at Jacksonville University before I finally told my mother and father in law & my mom and my grandparents I am just not going to do that right now because I need time for me and to take care of things at home. It's what I wanted and Joshua. My husband is so supportive. He said a few yrs ago that supporting him in the Navy is a full time job in itself and he loves me & if I want to work ok, if not, ok. We both are happy with our current situation and I think family finally just understood why. I am 13 credits away from finishing my AA degree but am just not ready to go back to school yet. But I will finish my degree! It's a definite goal of mine :-)
I'm pretty shy and quiet but once I'm comfortable I'm usually laughing and all smiley. I'm very down-to-earth and so is Joshua. I love to write and I do art (want to get back into it after a bit of a dry spell.) I've had a lot going on emotionally b.c. I have trichotillomania (it's along the lines of OCD only in the sense that I pull my hair.) Please don't be alarmed. It really is a medical condition. I'm on meds and am going to counseling to finally get a grip on it. It will never go away so it's a day-to-day battle but I just want to feel girly again b.c. I'm tired of wearing a hat. It's fairly short and I (as well as my husband who's been such a sweetie and patiently waiting and continuing to support me) am really trying to reach my goal of at least having it a few inches or 3 or 4 and not wearing my hat anymore. I have beautiful naturally curly brunette hair (I'll have to learn to post pics,) and I will be my old self again! Hope that wasn't too much info. for anyone. Please keep me in your thoughts as I try to work my way up my own little mountain to reach my goal. :) Thanks! If anyone has questions feel free to pm me. I sometimes take a while to respond (I was recently diagnosed w/ minor arthritis in my right thumb/wrist so I try not to over do it for too long.) I'll be around and starting to post soon.
