Our "second" parents here lost of their ducks to a wild animal and her dogs used to heard them. Anyone know how much ducks are? My husband and I would like to get them a new one!

The cost will depend on where you get them. If you get them from a farm store setting (easily done this time of year) you will pay a little more than if you get them from a farmer/hobby breeder. It will also depend on the type of duck as different breeds demand different prices. I have worked for a couple of stores that sold them and they ranged from $10 to $25 each. Start by calling local farm stores - most have a full selection of chicks, ducklings and goslings this time of year - those that do not "carry" them can often order them for you as a special item. However, if you go the baby route the people you are giving them to would have to provide the "raising" care. If you go with adult ducks (more likely to be obtained from a private source such as a farmer) they will be more ready to fend for themselves.
You might put it off until they are able to determine how the animal got to the ducks and fortify that area to keep the new ones safe. Once a wild animal gets one "free meal" from a place they remember it and will come back for more.
We obtained our Bonnie-bob and Clyde ducks from a local farmer for the whopping price of $5 each. We got them as companions for Judy duck (who we lost in December :-( ) and she was a freebie duck, lol.

This is going to sound awful but you may find many "freebie" ducks available in the coming weeks. MANY parents get their kids a "cute little duckling" around Easter time and then decide they don't want a duck once it grows out of that cute/fuzzy stage (and starts making messes all over)

We know how they died, but the people decided not to, because i was going to get one or two, and they said you need a good group for the dog to work ;o(

Not to threadjack, but did you know that Petco will not sell rabbits and chicks at certain times of the yeaar for that reason?? I would go to a pet store, they might know where you can find ducks.

There's a place on silverdale way (by old town silverdale) that has ducks up on their sign. I wouldn't think they would be too expensive but I have no clue.
