I only delay a few months and spred out the vax rather than doing 3 or more at one time. I just think its hard on little bodies to get so much at once.
Anthony did not get his first round of shots untill this past Monday so hes only about 2 mos behind the powercurve.

My kids are way overdue for their vax. I need to take them in next week to get poked.

Yes we've delayed Emilee's vax's once due to some weight gain issues. And Elizabeth had a horrible reaction to DTaP at her 5 year shots and now we have to space hers out from now on because she had 4 others the same day.

It also depends on the state you live in. My bf wanted to not get them at all and checked where he was going to go to school and they said she could sign a waiver, but if one parent complained he would be removed from school until he was fully vaccinated. She was pissed at first, but her midwife said it is ok to delay, but not good to avoid it all together.

:lol Cool! I was hoping you would. I didn't want to out her because that subject is raw with her :( Its hard to be constantly judged for your personal decisions. And crunchy isn't bad when its done right ;)

awwww. Please tell your friend to be proud of her choices! :hugs I know how she feels at times, though! I've dealt with some not so nice people IRL as well as here & other boards when it comes to me being different or "wrong" in their eyes. :rolleyes It is tough at times when you constantly have people talk down to you or want to fight about it! I hope she doesn't hide who she really is because of differences. That would be a sad thing because there are always people out there looking at others & her choices can be a positive influence to others. If she hides them, someone who needs her guidance might loose out! :(

Sorry for the quick threadjack!

She is proud of her decisions and she doesn't hide them but I think it just gets wearing at times when all you read are people bashing you with every name in the book when you decide to go against the grain of society. I have seen some nasty things said about her decisions on another board so its become a thing that gets her goat. For me its breastfeeding for her its vaxing. :hug to my crunchy lovey!

Oh I know. People can be truly hateful when you don't do things the way they feel is right! Send her hugs from me, too! :hugs

She's totally crunchy :wink But what I love about this girl is that while our parenting decisions and reasonings for them can be worlds apart, she doesn't make me feel any less of a parent for chosing differently from her. And shes pretty hot to boot. :lol

Okay so what is this with the "crunchy"?

I do not vaccinate. Plain and simple. I know it is a touchy subject for some people, but I am proud to admit that we do not. DH's parents had a HUGE problem to begin with but our oldest is 19 months old and rarely ever sick. In fact he's had one fever (lasted evening) and two colds (one of which could have been prevented had my family keep him in their house while I was loading the car in the rain) and that is it.

CRUNCHY is a term often refered to parents that don't vax, bf, co sleep, cloth diaper, dont cio, no circ, no pierce etc etc. If it goes against "mainstream" parenting its "crunchy" or "granola" Its a term used in mommy world.

My friend is totally crunchy, I am like oatmeal. :lol there are levels.

Not a silly question at all! CIO=crying it out....like letting your baby/child cry themselves to sleep, etc.
