How do you liter box train a cat? One of my kittens goes in the liter box sometimes, but other times he goes on the floor, but its only on the floor by the liter box in the laundry room. And I know he isnt missing, because its far enough away from the liter box. What do you do?

I think your supposed to do it like a dog. Like if you catch them your supposed to lkike show it to them, then tell them no and put them in the litter box. Thats how weve always done it when weve had a stubborn cat

I usually just make sure to take the cat to the litter box myself several times a day. Keep an eye on her and if she looks like she has to go, take her to the box and put her in it. I kept the box in our laundry room (we had a huge laundry room though) and at night I would keep her in there also since I wasn't able to stay on top of her all day to get her to use it. It just takes time and making sure she gets in the box. ;)

I've never really had a problem with them going outside the litter box. Is it clean? Maybe he doesn't like the litter? I dunno...cats are picky.

well he goes in there probably everytime except like once everyday. And I try to clean it out a few times a day. But maybe I should watch closer and see if he does it only when I havent been to clean it out. Ive never had this problem all the cats Ive ever had have always used the liter box. His sister uses it with no problem

Maybe he holds it until it's too late. My friend had a kitten like that and she got a few litter boxes and put them in places around the house. Maybe that would work?

I never had this problem but with cats you pick them up several times during the day and put them in the litter box esp just after they eat.

Just keep putting him in the litter box, if he's consistently going on the floor on the same spot, put the litter box over it. Some cats are very picky about what type of litter they like, and how dirty a box can get before they refuse to use it. Best is to clean it everyday, and just keep at him, he'll eventually get it. Also, if he's not neutered he may spray outside the litter and other places, when they're really little it doesn't smell too bad so you may not catch it...but later on, it's like ammonia.

For kittens, you wanna get litter that's VERY soft and fine, not pebble-ish like some litters are.
Cats, by nature, are easy to litter train.

My bf had to switch litter 3 times before her kittens would go in the box.

They go in the box, they both use it. The male one just sometimes wont use it.
