I know that I have been posting a lot in the debate forum, but I like hearing what all of you have to say about certain things. I'm sure that this question has been asked before, but I'm posting it anyway.:P
Do you believe that a person is born gay or that it is possible to become gay later on in life. Whether it is around a young age or as an older person that has been in heterosexual relationships or not.

I've seen something on tv once about a study that showed that gay people have something in their brains that is different from straight people. Going on that, I think that they are born that way. Then again, the study could be wrong, but I pretty much believe it.
I saw Made the other day. They showed a pic of the guy on there when he was about 4. He was in a diva pose that would make me think he is gay.
i think people are born that way. one of my very best friends in the world is gay and i think he was just always like that

I think there hasn't been enough research on it to come to a conclusion at this point. It could be both. I am sure there are many instances where someone has encountered a violent heterosexual relationship that made them shy away from the oppositite sex (as a protective measure). My opinion based on the general idea of it is that the attraction is hardwired. While I think your surroundings influence you to a certain extent, sexual orientation seems to be too complicated to simply be influenced by your surroundings. I could be wrong but for now this is my opinion. Who knows....

I agree

I firmly believe most of them are born that way. I have a cousin who is gay and our family pretty much knew he was different from the time he was very little. He loved girl things etc...His brothers were larger/very big men yet he was always feminine in his actions and really small....His voice really never changed like most men's do. I just so whole heartedly believe that MOST gay people are born that way and that they know it from the time they are VERY young!!
Now that's not to say that I don't think somebody may choose the lifestyle for other reasons and actually make a conscience choice to live that way. So while my opinion is that most ARE born that way and don't have the choice of who they are attracted to.......some may and "choose" the life. In both cases my opinion of that person is the exact same and as follows.......WHO CARES and RIGHT ON:yes
I also want to add that I DO NOT for a minute believe that all gay men are feminine and that is some determining factor of whether a child will be gay. It's just that by the end of the teen years my cousin knew he was gay and if you sort of put two and two together, then there you have it! In some cases I just don't buy that it's just some RARE coincidence that one seems really feminine and then bam.....oh look they're gay too:yes
I agree with what Dollface wrote.
I also agree w/Aundi: not alll gay men are effeminate, nor are all lesbians butchy.
Having said that, I know I shouldn't laugh, but DH and I saw a 9 (maybe 10) year old boy today who was, for lack of a better word, flaming. :)
I looked at this kid and thought, boy I hope society becomes more tolerant before you grow up. He's still oblivious to what he'll have to endure. Sigh.

i go to a school with a lot of gay people (didn't know it at the time apparently it itsn't in their fast facts lol) and there are some you can just pull out right away. i think that some of them are born gay and some of them they had that confusion when they were younger and certain influences fostered the gay behavior. i don't believe that people are bisexual, you are drawn more to one sex than the other
