View Full Version : anyone have an animal you're not suppose to? Nicole1788 04-30-2007, 11:15 AM Just curious..im talking apt housing wise..not illegal state wise because that happens especially when you move around alot. aubrey 04-30-2007, 11:22 AM Not telling. :creep PvtWinkiesgirl 04-30-2007, 11:27 AM Definitely have one more dog than our lease says. :giggle But people cant tell my girls apart anyway. DF is a reservist, we arent in any kind of military housing or anything. sdshorty 04-30-2007, 11:28 AM No, I've thought about it, but ultimately its not fair to the animal in the end. Because if you have an animal you are not supposed to have, and your landlord finds out usually what will happen is either a) you must give up the animal OR b) you must move And I can guarantee most people wouldn't move, they'd give up the animal. So right there, the poor animal now has to suffer because you wanted to have them so badly that you broke the rules. Bex 04-30-2007, 11:28 AM nope. not worth any possible consequences. PvtWinkiesgirl 04-30-2007, 11:31 AM Well, none of my dogs would ever go for anything, my landlord is very relaxed with me when it comes to my animals, she knows I train dogs, she knows I take them to work everyday so they are rarely alone, and I showed her proof of their CGC/TDI when I moved in. She had no problem when I had a litter of 5 pups last year, either. Brandi 04-30-2007, 11:31 AM What type of animal? :shrug I'm just curious b/c I don't know of any animals that are only banned from state to state, except maybe a pit bull or something. =Mrs.AiNokeA= 04-30-2007, 11:32 AM Nope I dont have any pets at all... if I did I wouldnt live somewhere where I couldnt have them. It's not worth it to me. PvtWinkiesgirl 04-30-2007, 11:32 AM I heard some states dont allow ferrets. :wow I know in IL any kind of wolf/dog hybrid is illegal to own. Pebbles 04-30-2007, 11:32 AM I'm not sure how our landlord will react to seeing our 4 vermin :creep Nicole1788 04-30-2007, 11:32 AM a ferret, they say its exotic..its just this apt...i called the apt we are looking at moving into the lady basically laughed and said yeah thats not a problem. Its caged so idk :dunno instant_oatmeal 04-30-2007, 11:47 AM I wanted to get a puppy but we are only allowed 2 pets and I have 2 cats already. I'll get a puppy someday when we have enough room and we aren't breaking any rules. lovinmyMA2 04-30-2007, 11:48 AM Yeah we have a cat but our apt. mgr. is really relaxed if you have one cat. 2 or more and you have the pet deposit, pet rent, etc. harrisonsdream 04-30-2007, 11:49 AM some places won't let you have a ferret, or rodents or that sort of thing. also some places won't let you have "vicious" breeds (i.e. pit bulls, rotts, etc). Kym 04-30-2007, 11:50 AM I know in some military housing you can not have ferrets. We got rid of our rabbit (only because I am highly allergic). We do have a caged animal (won't say what it is though) that all the neighborhood kids fell in love with over the weekend. froglove 04-30-2007, 11:51 AM Yup I do. I have 1 cat. I used to have 2. BUT as of May 1st( tomorrow) we are allowed to have 1 spayed or neuterd cat. WHOOHOO Trescha 04-30-2007, 11:52 AM i did not pay the 400bucks for pet fee where i live. that is just crazy. plus i am home with him all day...so hes not doing damage. Jennie 04-30-2007, 12:03 PM In our paperwork, it says we're only allowed 2 pets, but the CO of the base had 3 so he upped it for everyone. They haven't updated the paperwork or anything, so I honestly don't know how many animals we can have, but oh well. If we're only allowed 2 animals, then we're not supposed to have Brownie. But if we didn't take her, she would go to the pound, which she would have been put to sleep within 7 days simply because she's a pit. ash 04-30-2007, 12:08 PM in my dorm we arent supposed to have pets other than fish and you may be able to get away with one of those little tiny turtles people have other pets ALL THE TIME, since they are large apartments on campus, it isnt a big deal, for me, i think if you check with your 7 roommates you should be able to pay like 500$ have one! but we cant. my roommates had like frogs and hamsters and such, and that disgusted me and grossed me out, their room smelled and the only reason I didnt call housing is that they kept them contained in their personal room. I had my dog stay in there for like an hour, but kept it off campus for the night, I just dont think breaking the rules is worth it, as someone said, if we were found out, the pet would have to go :( ~Jess~ 04-30-2007, 12:35 PM I"m not telling :creep Heather 04-30-2007, 01:13 PM I checked into ferrets once because I thought it would be a cool pet but they are not allowed in most if not all military housing and since we plan on living in military housing for as long as we can it was pointless for us to get one. Also I think they are banned in CA. Im not 100% sure though. FrothySilvette 04-30-2007, 01:26 PM :yes Not now - but before we lived in a rental house and hid our cat...he was skittish, anyway, so he hid from everyone all the time to begin with - there was just no evidence of him one way or another, so it was no big deal. The reason - they expected us to pay a $400.00 non-refundable deposit just for the cat - a 13lb shy tabby :rolleyes A dog I can understand - but paying that for a cat? That was just silly...My kids did more damage to that house than the cat ever could. :no LOL - like the time that the boys decided to color the walls with permanent markers and scribled their names into the carpet like little Salvadors. *~*Cori*~* 04-30-2007, 01:41 PM Nope, we are good. We are allowed pets as long as we don't let them out the house alone to run free or they make messes in others yards and it isn't cleaned. We don't have that issue since we have an inside only cat. We won't get a dog till we move eventhough we would love one and can have one. There isn't enough room for one in our 2 bedroom house to be cooped up all day and I don't have the strength or energy these days to take it out and give it all the attention it would need... so I just keep my puppy fever at bay. *~*Cori*~* 04-30-2007, 01:45 PM When I lived in Jacksonville years ago, we moved to this one nicer apt and we had our 2 cats and they wanted us to pay like $400 per cat or something if you had pets... yea they never caught on we had cats either. We had no children at the time and they didn't make a mess so when we moved they never knew.... Very sneaky sneaky of me I know :creep :teehee Pheather 04-30-2007, 01:47 PM We hid our cat for almost a year when we lived in an apartment in va beach. I don't know how they didn't bust us for it since she sat in the window all the time. |
