View Full Version : My hips
I know I have already posted about this and Brandi gave me a lot of info, which I'm going to talk to my dr next week about it, but I just feel like complaining :mrgreen
It's gotten to the point now where I limp when I walk. I try really hard not to so I don't look stupid, but man, sometimes, ouch...It feels like I pulled both muscles right underneith my butt so it's hard for me to stretch out each leg and walk right, like a normal person would. It's popping a little too, but nothing too bad, yet.
:grumpy
Oh and how about that feeling where your boobs are pretty much resting on your belly? :hehe I hate that...Feels like a bunch of rolls in there :lmao

:lmao i was just talking about that the other day, it feels weird and sticky... i'm glad it's winter over here, i don't know how it would feel if it was hot out...
Caimbrie 12-07-2005, 09:05 AM I've always had trouble with my hips and during pregnancy they hurt awful once I start to get big. They pop constantly and I know how you feel about the limping :( I've actually fallen down a few times recently because the pain was so bad when I stood up to get out of bed.
Rachael 12-07-2005, 09:30 AM I hope you feel better chick!! :(
MichelleB 12-07-2005, 09:49 AM It's probably just your hips and muscles spreading to make room for the baby. I remember mine hurting a lot, especially towards the end. I couldn't sleep on one side for too long at night because I would wake up in pain. The most comfortable thing to do was sleep on my back, but that's not really good for you to do. :grumpy
Try stretching during the day, or doing some yoga at home. That will probably help.
Just wait until after you are done nursing and everything. Your boobs are going to be goo! :lmao I miss my perky boobs!!! :hehe
Potatocup 12-07-2005, 09:50 AM I get that pain right below my butt often too - it's not too bad yet, it does manage to go away after a few stretches or walking. All my joints have always popped and it's only gotten worse.
ETA: I forgot, in my yoga class, the instructor said that many pregnant women have problems with their sciatic nerves. that's the main nerve that runs from your spine down through your butt all the way to the foot. she said most of the time you'll feel the pain right below the butt because of the pressure from pregnancy in the lower back/butt area while you are sitting or laying down. she said regular walking or exercise and making sure not to sit or lay down to long without stretching or moving helps too.
Thanks Potatoe... I wondered if sitting for a long period had something to do with it.
Kaymara 12-07-2005, 10:33 AM Well there is also a condition to watch out for. Here is an article on it. My hips didn't really hurt it was my pubic bone area. Anytime I got up out of bed I had to stand still and steady myself. Then pop, pop, pop. It is usually from the joints and what not relaxing to prepare..

That's good to know. i was hoping my yoga instructor wasn't just making stuff up. :P
Potatocup 12-08-2005, 11:11 AM Thanks Potatoe... I wondered if sitting for a long period had something to do with it.
sure. you know what though? i was standing around for over an hour last night and i got it pretty bad from that too. i think it's ANY position for a long time (as least for me).
I agree...My DF is making up a stretching "program" for me and he is goign to help me at night. I'm also going to try to not sit for long periods and definetely not stand. He also wants me to get these gel pills that are Glucos something or another...He said it is natural and this is what arthritis sufferes take, but their meds are just a stronger dose. It's supposed to coat your joints. I'm going to ask my OB about it first & if all is good, I'm going to start taking them. Figured it couldn't hurt to try, even if they don't work.
If you are interested, I can let you know what the pills are called. I can't remember the name for the life of me. It's something our body produces....
Caimbrie 12-08-2005, 11:50 AM Definately ask the OB first about the pills.
Potatocup 12-08-2005, 01:07 PM Hmm...be careful with the pills, not just from a OB perspective. arthritis is generally a degenerative disease in the joints and it sounds like those pills fill in for the missing cartilage. since your problem is a loosening of the joints or nerve issues, you may cause the joints to swell and make things worse. i've had a lot of joint problems in the past and they are not fun.
the stretching will be good. i started doing 20 min of yoga every night and that helped a lot. do you know if there is a pre-natal yoga class in your area?
