DB left for bootcamp a week ago and he never called his parents to say he was there. I had heard he got to call and say I'm here safe really quick and it even says that on the website. Is it unusual that he hasn't?

Jennie 04-30-2007, 08:33 PM We were told he would be able to call as soon as he got to boot camp to let someone know he was there safe and sound. I think it took 1-2 weeks to actually get that 1 min call. So yeah, it's not unusual. I hope someone hears from him soon! AG2Wife 04-30-2007, 08:34 PM I think it's up to the RDC. harrisonsdream 04-30-2007, 09:08 PM they are supposed to call when they get there just to let the family know they are safe. but no real calls until the RDC decides Armylove 04-30-2007, 09:16 PM no DH didnt call. the entire time he was in boot. just letters Aurora 04-30-2007, 10:29 PM I'll be sure to pass it along. They are pretty clueless as to the military life and I tried to say it probably wasn't a big deal but they think he is going to be able to do whatever/whenever still...or at least his mom does. Thanks for the answers! Armylove 04-30-2007, 10:30 PM his parents will probably get a letter soon. I know when DH first got there they made them write to their parents giving the address, but they couldnt call. Where is he at basic at? Aurora 04-30-2007, 10:59 PM Great Lakes...he is in the Navy FrothySilvette 05-01-2007, 12:39 AM No news = good news. If something bad did happen they would have already let you know. :hugs So don't worry! He's busy getting his butt beat by exhaustion and hunger - he's fine!! He's busy getting his butt beat by exhaustion and hunger - he's fine!! Ditto. While it is the norm for a very brief call to be placed on arrival it doesn't always happen. However, if there were a problem or cause for concern his parents would have been contacted. lindakaiser1 05-01-2007, 07:56 AM mine never got to call, i think i didn't get a call for about a week maybe it sucked too. Del 05-07-2007, 09:05 PM I don't think mine got to call for like 2 weeks. So, tell them not to worry. Everything's fine! It's bootcamp. If everyone even gets letters, that's good. Ashnbri 05-08-2007, 11:36 AM I think mine called..but he called his momma to tell her he was okay..I think it probably does depend on who the head guys of there unit are. Just because they are supposed to get something doesn't mean they will get it or the people in charge will follow it! lol chels_chels 05-09-2007, 11:41 PM well mine called me when he got to the airport friday and we talked the whoooooole time he was there until the bus came to pick them up....and then he called the next day for a 5 min convo and then this past monday for a 3min talk....so im not sure...he said it depends on the person in charge.... Holly 05-10-2007, 12:25 AM It's really not guaranteed whatever the RDC wants will happen. They get other calls for good inspections and stuff as well so don't lose hope! He's fine just really tired and a bit scared, dont worry! I only got two calls the whole time but letter day is wonderful! I still love Wednesdays just for that reason that it used to be my letter day. The best call ever is after battle stations cause it's long and you get to say I'll see you in a couple days at the end! haha Sounds like his mom is going to get a wake up call real soon here. |
