In the now infamous ;) Life As a Navy Wife thread, Breezy mentioned in passing how all of our experiences wil be different, depending on whether our SOs are surface, submarine, seals, seabees, etc.
Which brings me to the question: how exactly is it different to be the wife of a Seabee?
I'm desperate for information so any light you can shed will really be appreciated. :yes

They don't go on ships normally( I have heard in some rare instances, they will but not the norm). They don't get sea pay. They wear BDU's. Anything specific you want to know?

Are they more likely to be deployed to war zones, like Iraq?

i can't say how often it occurs but my seabee is on deployment right now and went to iraq. however, currently he is in africa, and after he was in iraq he went to kuwait. my cousin is a seabee and has been to places like quam, kuwwait and iraq as well he will be going to cuba in a few months, some of dh's friends were deployed to spain. my father was a seabee too, and almost got sent over for desert storm. i hope that answers the question

They go all over, they do humantarian rebuilds etc.
SO, would you say a seabee spends less time at home than the average sailor?

NO cause there is no AVERAGE any more in the Navy. they can deploy for a couple of months for a mission, or 6 months or even 9.
Sometimes they will go to Iraq and like said above sometimes it will be places like Guam or japan etc. THere is no Norm since 9/11
