When do you start feeding your baby rice cereal? I haven't talked to the doctor yet about it, but I am just curious.

The AAP recommends not to start cereal or any other kind of solids before 4 months (edit, put 2 instead of 4) unless your baby has reflux or some other problem. You don't "need" cereal until 6 months. Cereal is a way to replace the iron in baby's body upon 6 months when they start naturally depleting.

Cam was on rice cereal at 3 months because she was HUNGRY! I never mixed it into her bottle though.. she took it right off the spoon. She'd doubled her birth weight at 4 months, so the ped. said I could start veggies then...

Started Ethan at 4 months per his ped. He showed signs of being ready and did excellent with the spoon. I plan on starting at 4 months with Ash too if she is ready

:yes

And it depends on your baby, but they say between 4-6 months. With Abby she was 6mo, she just wasn't interested nor was she needing it. But with Danny since he was/is such a big baby, I started at 4mo, besides he was watching me eat and pulling at my plate. Just watch for cues....:) And have fun!!

Dd's ped told me to start it at 2 months as long as she could eat it off a spoon. She was drinking over 48oz of formula a day though.
