When you put your kids down for a nap do they stay up and play?

I put Jacob upstairs for his nap time and hes playing right now with a little bit of whining. How long do I let him play? Hes never done this before.

My ds tries to usually. I started taking his toys out of his room. Now he does pretty good usually.

DD used to, until I went in and made her lay back down in her bed. It took a few times of being very stern with her, but after that she knew I meant business, and naptime was for sleeping!

My DD plays for about 5 or 10 minutes before she falls asleep. But, she's still in a crib, so its not that big of a deal.

Well it didnt take that for him to know it was nap time. He played for a bit then fussed till he realized I wasent going to go get him. Hes asleep now.

Ella always goes right to sleep. I wait until she acts tired ask if she's ready for a nap she tells me yeah and then we go. She's also still in her crib but she is on a schedule were she only goes in her crib to sleep.

Once Ethan transferred into his toddler bed he has played. I usually let him play quietly and after an hour if he is still awake I go ask him to lay down. He is in the process of trying to drop his nap tho so half the time he will play for a bit then fall asleep and the other half he wont. But I figure as long as he is in his room he is getting some downtime

I let her play in there for the normal time that her nap is. (aka if naptime is from noon-2:30, then I wait and go in there at 2:30.) Unless of course she is crying.....

*knock on wood*

Now that she's in her twin size bed.. she won't cry or anything, typically goes right down, when she was in her crib she would stay up playing, i could hear her in there singing and talking LOL

naps??? what are those?? No seriously. Since Nathaniel was a newborn he never took a nap longer than 45 minutes, but he does sleep through the night so I guess it's better than nothing. :P .. With Taylor though we would lay her down and she would fight it for about 10 minutes and then all would be quiet.. she would sleep for at least 2-3 hrs twice a day and sleep all night as well...
