View Full Version : Hip/Back Pain...
Jennygirl 05-10-2007, 10:25 AM Before I ask the dr for another referal for PT, I wanted to ask you guys something.
Lately Ive had really bad lower back pain and now my hips and side of my butt hurt so bad...I had a spasm on the one side last night, i have to change sides every 10 mintues. I slept with a pillow between my legs but it didnt help. Then when I get up in the AM I cant even walk.
Is this all super normal?

unfortunately it is normal. you have to remember that everything is strectching out. the first preg is always the worst with it. cause none of it has been strectched yet.
Jennygirl 05-10-2007, 10:38 AM I have never felt pain ( i havent been in labor before LOL) like this before...I cant even sleep, I cant walk, and now im sitting here wanting to just go home. It makes my job harder because I cant sit for long periods...
Do you have any tips for me anyone?
Caimbrie 05-10-2007, 10:39 AM It's completely normal and there is nothing they can do for you.

Work less... give birth.
It's one of those things you can't really control.
Jennygirl 05-10-2007, 10:42 AM I have a centering appointment on friday, and the PT lady is going to be there, so hopefully she will give us some stretches to help with something..Im two steps away from sleeping like a horse...
Sorry for complaining but ive never had a kid before...I feel like im just bothering people with questions
it's all normal.
normal
normal
normal
hormones are normal
hunger is normal
not hungry is normal
back ache is normal
hip ache is normal
moodiness is normal
restlessness is normal
sleepiness is normal
bloating is normal
my "tip" for ya: between your work and pregnancy complaints, it might just be better for you to alleviate one of your "issues." work less... enjoy being preggo more.
Shep's Wife 05-10-2007, 11:27 AM Yes it is normal :D
It gets worse with every pregnancy too! By #4 I was having trouble sitting, walking, laying and the list goes on....
harrisonsdream 05-10-2007, 11:29 AM maybe try and get to a chiropracter that knows about pregnancy aches and pains. :hugs talk about it at your centering appt

:yes
Makes you wonder where the books are about how sucky pregnancy can be huh? :lol
Pregnancy is the best thing in the world, and there are ONLY a FEW things that make it that way, the heartbeat, the moving, the ultrasounds, the beautiful belly and the birth. Everything else is HELL!!!!!!!
You might try taking a calcium and magnesium supplement. That's what my midwife recommended to me when I started having leg cramps. As long as I take it I don't get the leg cramps. It might help you out as well. Maybe sitting on an exercise ball?
Jennygirl 05-10-2007, 02:37 PM I talked to my dr and she is going to check me at my centering appointment.
I am sorry if I offend anyone with my annoying questions but I was in pain. I wont post anymore about it.
MichelleB 05-10-2007, 02:42 PM It's normal, and may get worse before it gets better. Try sleeping with lots of pillows to support your tummy and back. Putting one between your knees always helped me.
Hope you feel better soon!

Your not offending me. The only thing that frusterates me is I don't know how many different ways to say the same thing? I understand its your first pregnancy. All those with kids have been there and had their first time. Its a scary feeling especially when you dont know whats normal or not. But sometimes you post the same exact questions just in a different form. You may not realize your doing it....And its not a bad thing but I think you can only say its normal so many times. Like I said before there is SOO much stretching and such going on in there and all the weight willbe in the front. Your hips spread, your hormones go into overdrive. In fact, towards the end of your pregnancy, you will hear a nice popping sound everytime you walk, get up etc. Its your pelvic bone loosening up for labor.
It really is an intense process that our bodies go thru to grow a life. I had things happen that I was never told about etc. I mean my boobs got bigger, they hurt, the aerolas got a dark ring, they leaked, I got skin tags, acne, a darl line down my naval, hairs in weird places, my moles started growing, some of my hair was falling out a bit at 1 point, my ankles were so swollen with Ethan and afterwards with Ashley, my skin got dry, my feet actually GREW. I wear a 6 and a half shoe now and before getting preggo the first time I was a 5 and a half or 6. NONE of my shoes fit me and I am in the process of replacing them all. Of course then there is the weight gain which isnt always just in the belly. My butt, arms, thighs etc all got it. I got stretch marks down 1 of my legs (tho all my stretch marks never once got red and I only got them at the end with Ethan. None with Ashley) My back hurt, I peed every 5 minutes, I leaked urine so much that I had to change pantiliners often. I peed myself if I laughed too hard or sneezed and didnt cross my legs fast enough. If I sneezed and didnt hold my belly I would pull a muscle. I got charlie horses, hemmroids, I SERIOUSLY could go on and on....
You dont hear about all the bad in pregnancy because it is a WONDERFUL thing. You hear about the belly, the movement, the heartbeat etc. Unfortuantly you will have alot of aches and pains. ESPECIALLY towards the end. The only real cure is giving birth.
Asking questions is a great way to get information. And like I said I doubt anyone is offended by your questions. If you have questions definatly ask. But the main person to ask is your Dr.
As far as your hips and back go it IS normal. But if you are concerned definatly ask your Dr. Invest in a snoogle. GREAT pregnancy pillow. Pillows will become your bestfriend. Dont sit for long periods of time. That makes matters worse. Work less if need be. Right now is the time to focus on your body and that little life growing inside you...
Hope you feel better
