Is it strange that db will be home from his deployment really soon, but Im not getting excited at all. Its like a lack of emotion that I'm having. Its not that I'm not glad that he's coming home but everyone keeps telling me its weird that I'm not getting anxious/nervous/ or excited about it.. I'm just blah.. ya know. I guess its weird to me b/c I feel like I should be getting excited but I'm not...atleast not yet....

I'm sure you'll get excited once homecoming day arrives. It's normal! I was like that until the day DH came home from school, because I was having to pack up an entire household and handle everything on my own. Everything will be fine!

well, to me that sounds sort of odd. Are you depressed? Sometimes depression can be numbness and inability to feel anything, and sometimes it can happen because of the medication you may already be on for depression. It could be a lot of things, really. Maybe you're scared to get excited on some level in case things change last minute.

Nope no depression, I'm about as happy as they get. I dunno whats going on maybe its b/c I've just gotten so use to how things have been for the last few months, so I guess it doesn't seem real that he'll be home shortly. Then again maybe i'm just :screwy :screwy lol

maybe you are just waiting to get excited/nervous/anxious til it is closer to when he gets home, unless he's coming home like this week?! but regardless i bet you will be so happy/excited everything as soon as you see him!! my db is going to be home in a couple months and i am already excited...i am sure i will get nervous/anxious everything when it gets closer..are you normally not very emotional?

No normally I am over-emotional.. but for some reason for this im just :dunno . Thats the thing he'll be home really soon and its not effecting me. A few weeks ago I was kinda excited but not so much anymore. Its not that I don't want him to come home or I don't miss him or something like that. but its almost like its not a big deal ... when it should be...

oh geeze!! well maybe you are just staying calm until you see him? lol im not sure but i really think that as soon as you see him and he's with you, you will be so happy and feel so relieved. i guess its good that you're not too nervous/anxious!! and maybe since it has been so long since you've seen him that you are just a lil numb to it all and are *ugh* used to not having him around so you're just not used to getting excited?! maybe go get your nails done, do some stuff for yourself that would help me get more excited!! :hugs :hugs you will be happy when he's home!!

I was like that on my wedding day and I felt like crap about it...
I was that way until I started walking down the isle and then it hit me... hard!
Everyone handles it differently! Your excitment might be contained now till the minute you see him and then it may hit you all at once! (L)

Lol I wasn't excited until I was on the plane going there.

Ok so maybe I was a little excited a few days before, but until I knew he was back- I kept the excitement away.

That was my coping mechanism.

:hugs It's not weird. It's just your way.

I agree that it isn't weird. I tend to hold in all my emotions and focus on "what needs to be done". It is very much a coping mechanism for me. If I don't allow myself to get excited, I can't be devastated if/when things change. Believe me though...once the emotions come...they are FULL FRONTAL BABY!

Don't worry. Just let yourself feel what you feel.

It hit me more when we were standing on the pier and then saw the ship come around the corner.
