(KDKA) PITTSBURGH A woman is heading to court today after a fetus was found wrapped up in a freezer in her Bloomfield apartment last week.
Christine Hutchinson, 22, has been charged with one count of abuse of a corpse.
An autopsy last Friday indicated that the 19 to 20-week-old fetus had died in utero, said the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
The defense says it will argue that a fetus is not considered a corpse.
Her attorney is expected to ask the court to drop the charges.
He said that she may have used poor judgment, but she didn’t commit a crime.
However, the District Attorney’s Office says it may add an additional charge of concealing the death of an unborn child.
