View Full Version : Potty Questionnaire?
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 10:47 AM At what age did you start?
Did they relapse?
Are the fully trained or partial?
If so, what age do you plan on trying again?
Do they have their own potty, or using the big potty with adapter?
Are they still wearing pull ups at night?
Any advice for me the newbie/or beginning advice?
How is your baby doing now?
Chey has her own potty but shows absolutely no interest in going potty on it, she'll sit on it, but she won't go potty unless we catch her in the act and put her on it LOL Then we praise praise praise, but she just doesn't get it yet :lol

Do they have their own potty, or using the big potty with adapter? SHE USES THE BIG POTTY
Are they still wearing pull ups at night? NO
Any advice for me the newbie/or beginning advice? DON'T PUSH IT ON THEM AND DON'T GET MAD WHEN THEY HAVE ACCIDENTS. EVERYTIME YOU GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO DRINK PUT THEM ON THE POTTY ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER AND DON'T LET THEM UP UNTIL THEY GO. ALSO, GIVE LITTLE TREATS LIKE STICKERS WHEN THEY POTTY.
How is your baby doing now? SHE'S DOING GREAT, SHE WEARS BIG GIRL PANTIES ALL THE TIME AND HARDLY EVER HAS AN ACCIDENT.
Berkley 05-31-2007, 11:39 AM Thanks chic! She was fully trained at a yr and a half? That's awesome!
She was fully trained by 2 1/2. It was b/c of a yeast issue we were having so we were forced to make her run around naked all the time so potty training just happened quick.
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 11:41 AM ohhhhh, thanks berkley!

Traci 05-31-2007, 12:32 PM At what age did you start?3
Did they relapse?DD did for about a week after DS was born. She was a little over 3.
Are the fully trained or partial? Now they are fully.
If so, what age do you plan on trying again?
Do they have their own potty, or using the big potty with adapter?Neither one liked a potty seat on the floor so I used the seat you put on the potty so they fit. We took the potty on road trips. It was a life saver.
Are they still wearing pull ups at night?I hope not.:lol They are way to old.
Any advice for me the newbie/or beginning advice? When you decide to do it, do it. Take away all dipers and pull ups and don't give them back. You may have to do alot of laundry for a few weeks but it's worth it. They get confused if you go back and fourth. Wehn my DD was in day care this was the advice we got from her teacher. At night we always would wake them up and put them on the potty. Wven if they were half asleep. Pretty soon they would wake up on their own to go. I also kept Whoppers in the bathroom as a treat for using the potty.
How is your baby doing now?
Both mine are great. But they are 7 and 10:lol
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 12:38 PM Thanks Traci!
So your kiddos preferred the big seat on the big potty? We just have one on the floor and I don't think she's too awfully enthused with it :lol
Do YOU think that 2yrs old is too young to begin that hardcore, taking away the diapers and such?
Thanks again :)
MelissaMc424 05-31-2007, 12:47 PM At what age did you start? unofficially at 18 months (that's when she got her potty) we started really working with her 2 days ago.. she'll be 3 in August.
Did they relapse?
Are the fully trained or partial? partially, she loves wearing her panties and is great about going when you remind her.
If so, what age do you plan on trying again?
Do they have their own potty, or using the big potty with adapter? potty with adapter seat... she has a folding travel seat for public restrooms.
Are they still wearing pull ups at night? yes, we're not working with night time training just yet.
Any advice for me the newbie/or beginning advice?I'm starting out too, but the best thing I can say is to not get frustrated with them. DD had an accident yesterday and freaked out even though I told her it was ok. Taking away all daytime pullups has worked wonders, and letting her pick out her own panties is an extra incentive. We print potty charts from www.kidskandoo.com and she gets stickers for that chart and her sticker book each time she potties..
How is your baby doing now? She's doing great, we're hoping she keeps progressing the same way...
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 12:50 PM Awesome, thanks EN1MacsWifey :) :)
*Crystal* 05-31-2007, 01:00 PM DD is 17 months old on the 2nd and we bought her a potty chair because she was so interested in her cousins. She hasnt actually went potty in it yet, but everytime I go potty she goes with me, she will open the lid, sit on it, get toilet paper, wipe, put the toilet paper in the potty, and close it. Im not forcing it because I know shes still a little young. Heck I thought she was too young to be doing this, but she started it so if shes interested Im going to let her try at her pace first, then we will do my pace when she gets older!
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 01:04 PM That's so true Crystal.. DD started acting somewhat interested at that age also, but never actually WENT.. LOL
Thanks for the reply :)

Any advice for me the newbie/or beginning advice? REWARDS WORK!
How is your baby doing now? Great, she's almost 3 and does great!
I was big on waiting until my dd was ready, we didn't push the potty at all, it was actually her idea, and I think that made all the difference. She is a very STUBBORN child, and one day she didn't want to take a nap so she said she had to pee and wanted to sit on the potty, a great stall tactic! So I said ok, and from that moment on she peed on the potty no problems. Poop was another story, she pooped in her panties for about 2 weeks before she would go on the potty, but once she got it, she didn't have any of those accidents.
I think it's pretty normal to still have accidents even after being potty trained for a while, and my dd will get distracted playing and pee in her pants just a tiny bit, a spot really, then run to the potty to finish, but since I have to change her panties, I call that an accident. And that's the extent of our accidents. She's done phenomenonly, and really I think it was b/c it was her idea to do it.
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 01:37 PM :giggle yea and you never realize they are right until you have your own!! :lol
LOL :lol
girl20racer 05-31-2007, 01:38 PM Thanks Amy - I'm beginning to see that rewards are going to have to be the big key and waiting until they are ready!
Sounds like you did a good job :tu Well and DD of course :giggle
