Ok, you guys didn't warn me about how much energy it takes to put together a care package. Shaaaaaame on you! :shame Because I was not warned, I got so excited when I finally got DF's address that I immediately went into hyperdrive. :postwhore

I addressed the 6 letters that I had been holding onto and attacked the care package! I was SO careful to do what you SOS gods told me. I carefully arranged all the things he asked for (foot powder, dr scholls, soap). I added some of his favorite candy (with enough to share with his friends). I put in a new soft clean washcloth with a dryer sheet in a ziploc bag and a t-shirt that he can wear that smells just like me. I took the time to write a little post it note message on each thing in the box that will surely make him smile. I taped things to the inside of the box for weight distribution. I put the content list and his name and address inside. I closed it up with care and sealed it with the tape that I got when I called USPS and asked for my military pack. I filled out the customs form as best I could and finally put everything by the door to take to my friendly postal worker tomorrow.

I cleaned up my work area and looked at this tiny box of love and realized...I fought the box and the box won. I'm SPENT! I gotta go to bed because I could swear I just left the gym or something! So naughty naughty SOS people...please warn the newbies as I fall into a deep coma-like sleep...TAKE YOUR VITAMINS BEFORE YOU START YOUR CARE PACKAGES! :fight

:offtobed

(Really though...this was the most fun I have had since he left! Care packages are going to make my day and I hope he loves them too! I am just teasing y'all.)

you are too funny!!! Good idea on what you did with everything though lol. When DH sent the list of stuff he wanted to me, all I could do was say "where the hell am I going to find that?!" then once I did find everything, I just tried to stuff it as best I could into one of those flat rate boxes with some sonogram pics and a pin of a 4D pic of a little angel and out it went! lol, he was only gone 4 months this last time and 2 of those months, I was flying back and forth along with dealing with pregnancy shit! lol. But he still loved it! He is wearing one of his gifts right now! :giggle

You're such a great wifey! I love the postit idea. I sent a few while my hubbs was in BCT, and it was more emotionally draining than anything else, since I sobbed the whole time. :)

lol care packages can be a lot of work! reading everything you did makes me feel like a slacker!! i used to put stickey notes on all of the things in his box too. now i stick a card in there and this last one i was rushing to get out so bad i just scribbled a little note. im gonna go all out on the next one i think. super good idea about the wash cloth and dryer sheet! db said he is just getting to the point that he doesn't want a lot more stuff because he's stocked up on everything and won't need much more. plus he's gonna have so much shit to ship back over from everything that i have sent him :lol

good job though he will (L) it!!! :D

I talked to him today and told him it was coming. He asked what was in it and I couldn't even remember everything! I told him that it had the stuff he asked for and some candy and some PSP games that he left but that I couldn't remember it all. Plus I want him to be surprised by some of it. :giggle

He wasn't very enthusiastic about it. (see other post from today) I asked him if he didn't want me to send him packages (thinking maybe he couldn't have them or something) and he said "I didn't say that."

So we'll see. I hope he likes it when he gets it and it puts him in a better mood. :dunno

Ok so I've sent care packages to friends of mine across the pond...but this one to my sweetheart topped them all......I SHIPPED A GUITAR!!!!!!!!!!! The box was so big I could fit in it!!! lol I filled these other little boxes with candy and snacks and gatorade and toothbrush/paste, body wash and some other stuff. I've got lots of little surprises in there for him. This will be the very first one he'll get since he's been over there...so I'm excited to get his response. Getting all that together was a chore...but it was worth it. Needless to say...the next one will be much smaller! lol

the only thing I can think of...and maybe it's something else...but I called USPS and had a mili-pack sent to me. It's full of flat rate boxes of different sizes, the custom forms, tape, and labels to ship with...it's great...got my first one in this weekend. And they give you a number to re-order them with when you are low or out...and they are FREE. Hope this helps...if this isn't it...it's still something great to call and request.

I LOVE getting the care package together! They are SO expensive though. So far I've sent two. The first one was filled with $70 of stuff and second one was $140 then postage for both. I can't wait for him to get them and tell me what he thinks. Darn that slow mail!

yup...the mili-pack is what I was talking about. Prices for boxes and packing supplies are a pain, so getting them for free from the USPS helps.
