I had to take DD to the ER early Friday morning because she was running an temp of 102.7
Earlier when I was putting her down, around 10:00, I noticed that she felt a little warm. When I took her temp, it was 102.1, so I gave her some Motrin and put her to bed. She seemed fine, not fussy, not cranky, nothing. So when she woke up later that night, I was surprised by her fever.
My mom and sister gave her a bath to kinda bring her temp down, but I decided to take her to ER anyways. By the time we got there (maybe 45 minutes), her temp had spiked to 105! Needless to say it scared the crap outta me. They gave her some more Motrin and her temp came down to about 102.
This has happened before, once, about 4 months ago....and they never did find out what caused her fever (it was around 104 degrees then). The doctor this time mentioned that, although she did look like she had another ear infection, she might have a UTI.
They wanted to take a urine sample, but being that they had already stuck her 3 times in an attempt to get enough blood for a culture and a CBC count, I put my foot down and told them I would follow-up with her regular doctor.
My question is has anyone ever had an experience with a toddler and a UTI?
I'm getting kinda nervous, because if it is a UTI, that means she's had it for about 6 months now, and now I feel like a bad mom. :sadeyes
