I've always wanted to go to the fairs! We have one up here called The Three Barons that I've never been able to make it to....I did go to the Highland Games, though I'm hoping to find a fair or two when I'm over on the east coast ths summer. :)

Is the Highland games like the Scottish games? Caber tossing, and manly stuff like that?

I grew up in MN and went every year when I was younger. I dressed up once

Yep - same thing! They even had a bagpipe competition! :mrgreen

I have always wanted to go. But the timing is always bad when one is in town. I will have to look and see if there are any up in the great Northwest to go to.

Went to my first one last year in August. Bought a gold brocade and black velvet dress for a military ball - I love my dress!

i love going!! i cant wait till october..thats when ours is out here. i will dress up this year for the 1st time. i will prob just alter my belly dance costume. its very midevil!!

im so excited. im going to make ds costume and see if dh wants to dress up too...he would look kinda funny hanging with me and c if he didnt...lol

We went last year and had fun. If DB makes it back before this year's fest rolls around, I think we're gonna dress up as Westley and Buttercup :lol

I used to go to the one in MD and dressed up but I lost a lot of weight and can't fit my wench garb. :)

I love Ren Faires! Been going since I was a little kid, and they are so much fun. Plus the food there is awesome! :)

I've been to a few SCA events though, and those are a blast.

Oh my goodness I love renaissance festivals! For my High School Madrigals (the "elite" singing group from my high school), we went every year in costume as performers and sang at different locations around the festival. It was so much fun because we were actually "performing" the whole time we were there and had to act all "renaissance-y." Those were definitely the highlights of my year. I haven't been when I wasn't a performer...I think I'd miss it too much and feel silly being a "normie" :lol
