View Full Version : Two Questions...
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 08:03 AM the first is...
It sounds stupid, but where does one buy a breast pump?
the second is...
When you are in your living room watching tv, where is your baby? do you put them in a seat or in a play pen? I wanted to get that fisher price swing thing but it was recalled...
Kaymara 06-04-2007, 08:12 AM Breast pumps are sold anywhere baby items are sold. Babies r us, nex, etc.
As for where I put Ashley. I dont really watch TV when the kids are awake. I have a full size swing tho by fisherprice that goes from side to side and front to back (it was only the little takealong 1 that was recalled not the full size 1) She sits in that, she plays on the floor on her mat with toys (its a fisherprice mat with toys hanging from cotton bars off the top, she also has a bouncey seat she sits in too.
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 08:18 AM Im sure I wont be watching much tv, but I was just curious...I need to start buying things and I just wanted to know!
*~*Cori*~* 06-04-2007, 05:08 PM I held Jer, put him in his bouncer, swing etc when I *did* sit down for a few to watch tv. Usually I watched TV while I rocked him to sleep or when he was asleep(which was always in my arms anyways)
WHen I was washing dishes or cleaning etc I put him in his bouncer or swing or he had a entertainment mat or in my snugli :)
I didn't BF or Pump but they have pumps everywhere... wal-mart, babies r us etc
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 05:12 PM Are pack n plays bad? I have two dogs and to use a mat, id have to lock them up all day...
Shep's Wife 06-04-2007, 05:13 PM A breast pump can be bought almost anywhere. They are in the baby section, it depends on how much you want to spend.
My kids spent most of there time on a blanket on the floor with toys. Or we had a bouncy seat that Tori liked.
We had a swing but only one of my kids actually liked it. Some babies don't like the swinging motion or they are like mine and don't want to sit still. Emily would practically climb out of it:giggle and she was only 4 months old.
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 05:15 PM Ugh!! I dunno what to do!! LOL

they are traveling cribs, they fold up easily and some have a smaller bassinet that goes on top.
We have two larger dogs, we kept them away from the girls when they where on the floor. We would let them sniff them and stuff but if they where on the floor we would sit next to them. But once they turned about 6 months old, they where used to it and it was no problem.
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 05:19 PM Yeah we have two big dogs...The one im totally comfy with and the other im not so sure..
Nickschic 06-04-2007, 05:19 PM When DD was little she was either on her swing or playing on the floor. And no pack and plays arent bad we have one it just didnt get used much. If you want to het one a put your baby in it thats fine too.

When she was little, if I wasn't holding her or she wasn't on the floor on her tummy, she was in her bouncer seat listening to the songs and watching the colors changing.
*~*Cori*~* 06-04-2007, 05:23 PM The cradle full size swings are awesome in my opinion... the ones that swing left to right and front to back. Jer had the oceans aquarium one and he loves the cradle swing option and the music and light show it had at the top :)
We also had a travel swing but that was over 3 yrs ago and we only used it when we traveled ;)

Speaking from experience, hold off on buying a swing and try a bouncy seat first. Wait and see what your baby likes it and it will help keep him/her off the floor from the dogs.
I would also suggest to you getting a snugli or a sling, babies love it :D
Jennygirl 06-04-2007, 06:20 PM I think we are going to do the pack n play and swing or bouncy seat...Baby stuff is confusing!
dodson2006 06-04-2007, 06:26 PM You can find a breast pump at any baby store or any store that has baby stuff. Target, Walmart, Babies R Us....etc. Sometimes the hospital will even give you one......it all depends. For those I believe you have to request one, though or if you don't have one they give you one and I took mine home *lol* even though I had one already!!!!
Swings are good, a bouncer, or even the carseat carrier and you can rock it with your feet!!! I do find that the swing works VERY well, though!!! All babies are different, though!! I am sure you will find something that works!!!!
Good Luck and we are here if you have anymore questions :) also I love being a mommy and although I don't know it all, if you ever need anything....please pm me :)
Chevy_Gurl 06-04-2007, 06:26 PM When sy was first born he would just lay with me on the couch, in his bouncer, in the swing, or curled up on the boppy ontop of a blanket. All depends what made him comfy.
bettyboop604 06-04-2007, 10:20 PM I have tried all manner of breast pumps, but for me, hand pumping was just easier.
Don't stress so much with the baby products. My first kid was born nearly 11 years ago and so much has changed. For me it was all about the swings, although my middle kid would only sleep in it while I was vaccuuming (I had the cleanest floors).
Be very careful of dogs. Even if you feel comfortable, just remember that they have a "pack" mentality. Just be careful, even the most gentle dogs will bite if they feel the need to do so.
Other than that, just relax. Babies really do not need too much for the first bit... all they do is eat, sleep and poop. Carseat, stroller, diapers... these are necessities, you will figure the rest out.
Good luck!

Me too.. I was always able to express more by hand, then a pump..
But you don't BUY one, you RENT one! La Leache League even loans them out for free to low income...
