View Full Version : Baby tubs
Chevy_Gurl 06-04-2007, 09:15 PM I have the hard plastic infant bath tub and it just isn't working anymore. Sylas can't sit up in it and when he's in it all he wants to do is turn around and climb out the back :sigh
So what do you gals have that you like for kids? Sy's 8 months old and I really dont want to have to keep buying something everytime he gets bigger
I was thinking of maybe one of those inflatable tubs that sit inside the tub but I've never used one before so Im not sure how well they work? :puzz
*Crystal* 06-04-2007, 09:18 PM We bought this for DD when she was able to sit up without support and she just got too big for it and shes 17 months old..

Carrie 06-04-2007, 09:18 PM i tried using the tub but i only used it once i just took the little hammak (sp) thing out of it and used that whenever i bathed my dd. i used it all the way up until she could sit up
MelissaMc424 06-04-2007, 09:19 PM When DD was 8 months old, she was using the regular tub for all her baths.. we started that as soon as she could sit on her own. She never liked the baby tub anyway..
Angie 06-04-2007, 09:20 PM I had something like this for my kids when they were little

Caimbrie 06-04-2007, 09:21 PM Once my kids can sit on thier own I just sit them in the tub with the water real low or in the kitchen sink. The tubs are more of a pain then they are worth imo :lol

I had that for Cameron and Wyatt and I found it was more annoying than just having them sit in the tub. Plus, mild grew in it really easy. I had to bleach it between every use.
Chevy_Gurl 06-04-2007, 09:25 PM I tried doing just a little water like you Sarah but Sylas thinks he can stand up in it and do his wiggle dance that causes him to slip and fall. Just bugs me. Hmm maybe ill try that duck tub since its only 10 bucks :thinking
DoublEE's Momma 06-04-2007, 09:25 PM When Eian got to big for the infant tub I just gave him baths in the kitchen sink...he loved it!!
*Crystal* 06-04-2007, 09:26 PM I tried doing just a little water like you Sarah but Sylas thinks he can stand up in it and do his wiggle dance that causes him to slip and fall. Just bugs me. Hmm maybe ill try that duck tub since its only 10 bucks :thinking
I loved it....its big enough for them to play around in but still small so they arnt all over the tub!
Caimbrie 06-04-2007, 09:27 PM I tried doing just a little water like you Sarah but Sylas thinks he can stand up in it and do his wiggle dance that causes him to slip and fall. Just bugs me. Hmm maybe ill try that duck tub since its only 10 bucks :thinking
Wyatt does that too :lol We just make him sit down over and over :teehee Of course now that he is like 28 lbs he's too big for any of those things anyway :giggle
~Jess~ 06-04-2007, 09:39 PM I had this for ella http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_3/602-8576814-1139040?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000LP2ABQ it worked great until she could sit up better and was ready to take a bath without a seat.
Shep's Wife 06-04-2007, 09:45 PM I used one of those bath seats, but they do need to be bleached often. But mine are all girls, I am not sure how well it would work with him and his winky down there :teehee
Tori just takes a bath/shower with me.
Traci 06-04-2007, 09:45 PM I had a plastic tub and it was a waste of my time. Whne they were newborn and didn't move much I used one of the sponge inserts with about an inch of water. When they started to move I just put them in with about an inch of water and they loved it. DD would wiggle down, use her feet a shoot herself up and start laughing like crazy.
Kaymara 06-04-2007, 09:46 PM I LOVED the infaltable tub that went inside the tub. And so did Ethan. Once he could sit up we used that until he could sit in the tub or take a shower. It was the BEST 14 bucks I had spent. I used it all the time and plan on getting 1 for Ashley
Callie 06-04-2007, 09:51 PM I know that this doesn't help, but I wanted to join into the conversation. Ava uses the hard plastic baby tub, and we bathed her in the sink when she was itty bitty.
My friend used that rubber ducky thing and her daughter liked it! I kept meaning to buy one for Gabby but always forgot. We put her in one of those chair things but it was a PITA b/c she'd slip around...but for the next kid, Im going to get one of those b/c its just easier.

:yes:yes:yes:yes:yes:yes
That tub seat is WONDERFUL!!!!! I got it for Jacob when he was a little younger than Sylas and used it until he was old enough to sit in the tub.
*Christy6* 06-04-2007, 10:28 PM I put a towel on the bottom of the tub so my kids wouldnt slip.. I just put in a little water.. They loved to splash and have fun.
Heather 06-04-2007, 10:52 PM I used the sponge mat things. I never bothered with a baby tub. Someone gave us a bathseat and it was awful. If I wanted to wash his bottom I had to take him out of the seat. It was such a PITA plus it was suppost to stick to the tub and it didn't, he tipped over. how about getting a big non slip mat for the bottom of the tub? Then you wont need a baby bath tub and he can stand without slipping.
Victoria 06-05-2007, 03:27 AM I used the tubside seat that Angie posted too! It worked great up until Ethan could sit on his own, w/o me having to worry about his safety. :)
