View Full Version : VBAC?
luvmycs2cti 06-05-2007, 02:35 PM Anyone ever have one? If so what were your experances with it? Do you think the military will allow me to have one?
DH and I are thinking about getting pregnent next year after he grads from the DLI and we move. We will hopefuly be in Hawaii.
(dont mind my mispellings...)
Victoria 06-05-2007, 02:37 PM I think it depends on the doctor. Some doctors don't advocate it. Tripler will be a VERY good hospital to deliver at. You can always try calling there. :)
luvmycs2cti 06-05-2007, 04:09 PM is Tripler the hospital out there? We will be in Pearl...
thanks!
MichelleB 06-05-2007, 04:11 PM From my experience with friends, I think it just depends on the individual doctor. Most doctors won't allow it, but some will. It just depends on your medical history.

Yup yup!!!
It's Tripler Army Medical Center. I delivered my son there through the Midwife program and would do it again in a heartbeat! :)

USCGBoxerMom 06-05-2007, 04:40 PM It's not up to Tricare if you have a VBAC it's your Dr. and most do not agree with a VBAC depending on your circumstances. VBAC's can be dangerous to both you and your child.
*Crystal* 06-05-2007, 04:47 PM There are alot of factors that make a Dr decide if you can have a VBAC. First is how long from your child birth is this pregnancy, how you were cut, why you had to have a C-section, if the hospital can even do them. To be able to do it the hospital has to have an operating room in the labor and delivery part of the hospital.
PM me if you have questions, Im not a canidate for a VBAC!
luvmycs2cti 06-05-2007, 04:52 PM Thanks for the info!!
I have done all my research and i think i could be a perfect cannidate for a VBAC. DS will be 4 by the time we start trying agian for another. The reason I had to have a C was because at 8cm when ddoc checked me and i sat back up DS heart beat fell through the floor so they had to get him out like then. Come to find out his cord was wraped around his neck 2x. Super scary!! :shock

Then all you gotta do now is find a Dr who will do it and make sure the hospital does it!
Krisha 06-05-2007, 10:16 PM I've had two VBAC's. The first was 3 and 1/2 years after my c-section and the dr. told me I had to try the vbac. Then 5 years later I had to "shop" around to find a doc that would let me have a vaginal delivery even though I had already had one after my c-section. I told my doctor that I wouldn't go into the hospital until I was in full labor if she didn't agree ;) After me begging her, threatening her, and crying she finally agreed. At first she said she would NOT induce me but she also caved to that request too. Good luck in your search.
luvmycs2cti 06-05-2007, 11:56 PM thanks krisha
ps...i love the ewok!!
HEIDI 06-06-2007, 12:18 AM I had a VBAC, My C-section was an emergency and my Dr encouraged me to try. Her birth was really simple and I am rather glad I did it!
mara_jade81 06-06-2007, 08:30 PM I had a VBAC at Tripler. My doctor was very willing to let my try a VBAC especially because they have a surgical staff there at all times so if there are any problems they can have you in surgery for a C-section literally in a minute. Having a VBAC was AWESOME! I am so glad I did not have another C-section. In fact I went all natural with my VBAC and it was just a wonderful experience.
And for everyone saying it can be very dangerous, medical research has shown that a VBAC is just as safe and even safer than repeat C-sections. They will ask you questions about your last delivery though and make sure a VBAC is an option for you but I say GO FOR IT!
Cherrish 06-06-2007, 08:40 PM I wanted to do a VBAC with this baby, but it's not looking like I'm going to be able to.
Depending on your doctor and the circumstances behind your previous C-section determines whether or not you'll be able to try.
DD never dropped, I never lost my mucus plug and didn't start to dialate OR efface before my water broke (sucks, doesn't it? lol)
With this baby, my OB determined that she's too high up as well, and that my pelvis is not wide enough to deliver a full-term baby. So...C-section for me again.
dollface 06-07-2007, 08:57 AM Like the others have said...it depends on the doctor. With my second child, my ob suggested VBAC and it went well. With my third, the doctor agreed to perform the VBAC, however, cautioned against it...which caused me to change my mind and have a c-section. The risk is less than 1%, however, the degree of risk is severe. I would try a VBAC if your ob is confident and experienced. Recovery is so much quicker...lol
