View Full Version : Do you sew?
I have been sewing clothing for my kids for about 14 yrs now, and sewing for George too. Just wondered if there was anyone else out there who likes to sew?
My sister has a website/store that I sell stuff on, custom orders and whatnot... I also sell occasionally on ebay.
April 02-24-2006, 11:33 PM I can but dont do it often therefore I'm not real good :D
Shaky 02-24-2006, 11:35 PM I still have my sewing machine on lay away. I only owe like $70 on it but I don't want to take it out till J leaves for the long one. I'm a newbie on sewing and I'm even thinking on taking a basic class.
Joann's has great classes! I have taken a few to learn new things. My mom & grandma taught me the basics, but things like smocking didnt sink in at home!
Debra 02-24-2006, 11:54 PM Well I like to sew....I'm just not very good at it! :D

Since my dh works long weird hours, I have my machines set up across my kitchen table.... 3 sewing machines, and all my scrap book stuff is in clear bins under our bed... I have a huge cardboard mat I pull out, and all the scrapbook stuff comes out with it. I sit in the middle of the bedroom floor to do my scrapbooking! I need to ask for a craft room to be added on while we are adding a living room and play room!;)

piggypunkinetta 02-25-2006, 01:44 PM I love to sew. My dh says i'm addicted to Joann's. I make clothes for my dd, mostly dresses or skirts and diapers for my baby. I'm going to save up my money to get a new sewing machine. I want to get one that does embriodery too.
VinnysGirl 02-25-2006, 02:47 PM I just recently got a new sewing machine. I'm really enjoying it too!! My mom has 3 different machines... a reg sewing maching, and embrodiery machine and a surger... she's got a small business she runs making mostly baby stuff, like diapers, quilts, and little things like that. I'm slowly learning some things from her. I am working on my first quilt right now!!!
sunshyne 02-25-2006, 09:27 PM A little bit. I can pretty much only sew squares together *loL* I have made blankets and pillows. I attempted to make my youngest dd some dresses. A few came out ok, but still not as perfect as I wanted them.
My dh bought me a sewing machine for our 2nd christmas together....I was like wth is this! I don't know how to sew. He said I needed a hobby, because I was always complaining about being bored *lol* I was really disappointed in getting a sewing machine. I ENDED UP LOVING IT!

awww girl, I remember those days when I used to live with my brother I used to have all my scrapbook stuffs on a corner and used to scrap on my bed lol now I got a kinda long table from Walmart for I think it was like $24. We don't have a dining table yet :P
Shaky 02-26-2006, 12:29 AM This is my scrapbook table and next to it I have a book shelf where I keep most of my stuffs in the small clear boxes. Sorry for the mess. We still have boxes around from my move and my computer that I don't know what to do with it.

Lilithdrff 02-26-2006, 10:13 AM I don't sew, but I'm thinking of buying one of those small craft machines for my scrapbooks and other projects.
My problem is I take on too many projects at once! I need an entire room for my fabric and scrapbooking supplies.

That's a requirement for when we buy our house. I want my own crafts room :)
I got a sewing machine for x-mas and would love to learn to sew like you. At least, I know who to go to for questions, since my mil and I aren't on talking terms right now. I've made pj pants for DH and DS. I also made some for me and a long night shirt for myself. Still trying to figure out the girls, seems like the patterns and things are much more complicated for the toddlers and babies.
Nickschic 02-28-2006, 07:52 PM I have made stuff before when i was in 4-H and I started again when i got preggo I was gonna make myself a maternity dress, but I never even got past cutting out the parts to start sewing it. I got bored with it. I hate that I always get bored with stuff so quickly.
